A few hours ago, I decided to dust the inside of my laptop since the fan was making a buzzing sound. I opened it up, took out the fan, and cleaned it (with an air duster). Afterwards I booted it up per normal. The noise had stopped and the fan was running well.
However, about 30 minutes after I had turned it on, the computer randomly shut off. I let it sit for a moment before powering it back up. But when I hit the power button, there was nothing. No fan kicking in, no LED lights flickering on, no sound or visual sign of life of any kind.
I tried every combination of battery/power cord manipulation I could think of (meaning I tried removing the battery and starting up the computer solely off of the power chord.) No matter what I try, I cannot get a hint of life.
I saw the tempurature at 38 degrees C shortly before the computer failed, so I don't understand how it could have been overheated.
The single small LED light on the AC adapter remains static when plugged into the wall (but not plugged into the laptop). When I plug it into the computer, the LED light begins to blink.
Also, my warranty expired 2 days ago (8/14/07)... almost as if a time bomb were planted in the system. The computer is 1 year and two days old to me.
If anyone has any idea regarding what could be the problem, I would GREATLY appreciate the help. It pains me to see $1300 go down the drain like this.
