    Hi people!
I have an acer aspire 5673wlmi and yesterday it started to reboot itself. after many times that did so, it now powers on but i can't see anything on the screen, always black.
the lights are on, hdd and fan are up even if the fan stops after few seconds.
I searched the web and it seems that is a bios problem, maybe corrupted and i have to restore it.
I can't access the system or the bios setup because the screen is always black and i don't think that the system starts up (i'm quite sure is a bios corruption problem). even if i push many times the keyboard i can't hear any error sound.
I know that the aspire one has an utility to flash the bios from an usb drive in order to resolve the bios corruption problem but the utility is different from that provided for my bios and i don't know in what name rename the bios image. in my case the flash utility is winflash, for aspire one is fla.
here is the guide for acer aspire one Peve's Blog: Acer Aspire One Won't Boot (BIOS corrupted)
does someone think that i could solve my problem? i don't want to lose my 5673 :(

    thank you!

    hi

for trying to recover your bios you need a crisis disk
read this and you will find there the crisis disk. After that download the latest bios from acer site for your model create a boot pen drive , see here, copy the files to it, must rename downloaded bios to BIOS.wph and update bios by booting your notebook with a conjuction of keys + power.

    thank you for your help.
i'm sorry but i didn't manage to startup the usb drive.
i tried many guides, first that provided by you, but no one worked fine.
i think i have to buy an external usb floppy drive.
have you any experience with usb memoryes? are you sure all that i have to do are the steps in the link you posted?
    i followed this:
    - open USB disk storage format
    - quick format the usb drive using DOS system located in folder (boot98se)
    - open the crisis disk and copy all the files
    - download the bios for 5670 and copy into the usb drive renaming it as BIOS.WPH
    - remove ac power cable and battery
    - connect the usb drive, press Fn+Esc, connect only the ac, press the power button and the usb drive should blink
    - if it blinks you can release the Fn+Esc keys.
    - after the update, the pc should reboot.

My problem is that the usb drive doesn't blink and the pc remain in this state without rebooting: i think that the pc can't read it and i have only to use a usb floppy reader.
    what do you think?
