The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Just got one of these bad boys in the mail yesterday (the one w/ x1600).

    anyway... I was curious as to what startup programs are necessary to keep. As some of you may or may not know... this machine came loaded with pre-installed software. There are a ton of programs running right now, but am unsure as to which ones to take off (under msconfig), and which ones to keep.

    If anyone knows which ones to take out (i really don't need any of these programs starting up), I would appreciate it.

    If it would be best for me to list all the programs running... I'll do just that.
