I just recently bought a 5672 for a very good price. I am very happy with it, however, I did notice that the startup speed was kinda slugish for a brand new core duo laptop. Even with turbo startup on, it still is kinda sluggish. It shuts down fine. I was thinking about playing around with the msconfig, but even then, it shouldn't startup this slow regardless. Ive seen other laptops like the dv5000t and Dell's E1505 which startup very fast with factory default settings. Could it possibly be due to the fact that the hdd came formatted in FAT32, instead of the newer format? Also, the hdd's are 5400rpm so the hdd's themselves shouldnt be an issue. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks alot for any help/tips.

my stock 5672 takes at the most 50 sec, from pressing the button to being on the desktop.

It takes about 50 sec to reach the desktop, then add about another 20 sec to fully load all of the desktop apps and such.

Yeh, I usually completely shut it down if I am done for the day with it. I was thinking of hibernating or standby it instead, is this a better option? Thanks.

First things first, uninstall whatever bloatware Acer might have preinstalled. How long have you ran your laptop without defragging? If the answer is a long time, maybe you should consider defragging your hardrive. Granted it shouldn't speed up the startup process by much, it'll still be noticeable nontheless.

Windows requires a reboot every once in a while, otherwise it gets sluggish.
