Hi guys,
I have an Aspire 5680 and I want to disable the automatic startup of the wireless card on computer startup.
I already installed Launch Manager version 1.17.1e, but it did not help much, I could not found the wireless setup there even if I know that in previous versions of Launch Manager it was possible to disable the automatic startup o the WiFi.
Anybody knows what can be done?![]()

look here - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=how+to+use+msconfig&btnG=Google+Search
Find the process you want to disable and disable it.

Thanks SSX4life,
but i've already tried that. My problem is that it does not seem to be a process that starts the Wifi at startup, there must be something else.
I found out that Launch Manager that soposed to handle special buttons on Acer PC, has a configuration file called MMKEYBD.CFG and there are all possible options for WiFi and Bluetooth startup:
[EC Command For Wireless]
802.11 On and Bluetooth Off = 3,64,60,1,45,1,A0
802.11 Off and Bluetooth On = 3,64,60,1,45,1,A1
802.11 On and Bluetooth On = 3,64,60,1,45,1,A2
802.11 Off and Bluetooth Off = 3,64,60,1,45,1,A3
Now, because at startup my Bluetooth in off and my Wifi in on, I'm convinced that my PC has the first option set somewhere, but i can not found where.
I've already searched registry and files.
If someone nows how can I change the first option with the last option that turn off both Bluetooth and WiFi , please tell me. -
As far as removing the automatic startup of certain hardware components when your turn your pc on I use ePower Management. Depending on what power source your laptop is using (AC / Battery) it will default to your power scheme you have chosen.
For AC power I currently use just the wireless with Bluetooth / LAN / Firewire / PCMCIA disabled. This should fix your problem you are trying to accomplish.
however
If you are wanting to have wireless on while using your pc and when you restart have it off by default that is another matter.

Thanks again SSX4life,
but i tried ePower Management too and did not solve my problem, because it's true that the it disabled the WiFi at startup, but unfortunately it disabled the WiFi too late because ePower Management starts at logon and by that time my WiFi was already on and connected to the network. And this was exactly what I wanted to avoid.
Anyway I installed the Wireless controll software made by Intel and that solved the problem. Now the Wifi stays off at startup. -
Turn off the auto start up in Intel Pro/Wireless or try use the panel switch on the laptop to physically turn it off?
