I have a Acer Aspire 5720G, with a Geforce 8400M GS graphics card apparently, i have every other driver installed for xp. The only one i cant seem to get to work is the graphics driver. I have tried Google and downloaded numerous drivers but i cant seem to find one that will work, they all either wont install because they don't recognize the hardware, or with custom inf's from laptopvideo2go they install then when i boot windows, then say they're incompatible and have reverted back to the default VGA drivers.

Anyone who knows of a driver that will work or could find one i would really appreciate it.

    Hi, welcome to NBR.

You have to clean your laptop from the nvidia stuff first. Uninstall the old nvidia driver, delete all Nvidia files&folders and clean the registry. There was a some kind of a nvidia cleaner or something which can do all this automatically. Then you download and install the latest driver+modded inf from laptopvideo2go.com.

    Driver Sweeper.

OK keep me posted, just remember, you have to run Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode coz some files/reg keys might be in use.

Well they now install except when it automatically restarts at the end of the install when windows boots the drivers aren't there and programs wont run because it cant initialize direct3d.

So the problem persist without any change right? How do you install the driver. With the Have Disk method or with the installer. When Windows found Vga compatible device you cancel it right?

Yes i used the installer and that is that when windows reboots it thinks the driver was never installed.

Hmm...Try to install it the " Have Disk" way. Disable any antivirus/reg protection software you might have.

I'll do a little research and let you know. I'm 99% sure it's not the drivers fault.

The only time I've seen this problem was on a desktop computer and the problem was - THE MONITOR. Once we changed the monitor it was all fine.
