Hi Guys, just got a Acer 5720z and been reading the site. Loads of useful stuff but what are the best forums for me to click on, theres millions of them! Any other Acer 5720z owners out there that want to share info, I'm pretty computer savvy... well a mere amature compared to some of the guys on here!

I have done alot of the vista tips and tricks and my Laptop is going v v well, but can I still squeeze some more performance out? And why are people downgrading to XP, My vista with SP1 is perfect (tempting Fate now!) All the latest drivers, sorted out the problem with the keyboard mouse pad by turning off tapping, I was about to throw the thing across the room! Looking at some of the problems here should I just go with the motto of "if it ain't broke don't fix it?!"

    My first questions,

    1) My bios is Version 1.27 should I winflash the bios to 1.42 or a lower version?

other than that start loading up the links!

    Cheers,

    Alex

BIOS VER 1.43 is released on support.acer-euro.com

i've used it for a week and had 1.42 for over a month...

i always use the winflash version to flash my BIOS...which i have flashed near 50 times.... just make sure your laptop has it's Battery fully charged,,, and plug the AC power cord in first..

    then close all open programs...

then right click on the file "ICL50143A.exe" and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

and follow the on screen instructions (i think you only have to click OK or UPDATE... and then wait about 1 min while progress meter completes....

PC will shut down when done..... so when PC powers down, press power button to restart the system.
