First of all I want to say Hello to all the members of this awesome forum that helped me many times in the past.

I have the motherboard of an Aspire 5720z in a 7520 case ( 17" display ). I have a problem with the video card that has been very annoying when trying to solve it. I currently have Windows 8.1 Pro. After the Windows install, the OS automatically installed the video card as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
So here's the problem. When I install the proper driver for the video card, that is NVidia 8400M G 256MB DDR2 and I restart the system, it just shows a black screen just after the "Loading Windows" step and all I can do is boot in Safe Mode, remove the driver and manually install the Microsoft Basic Display Adapted driver in Device Manager.
I have tried installing the card in Windows 7 as well and the result was pretty much the same. If I don't restart, the system is laggy and eventually it crashes. After the restart, the same black screen just after windows is loaded. Can someone please help me figure this out? It's driving me crazy because I've tried installing it a million times already.
