Hi~
This is my first ever post here, so I am sorry if this has been discussed before. Tried to do a search, but did not find anything.
I purchased an Acer Aspire 5730-4899 4 days ago and today it started beeping each time I remove or attach the power cable. Is that normal? No other beeps, only when the power cable gets attached or removed.
When I turn it on it also tries to access to DVD player 3 times (pretty loud noise) and then it logs on. Not sure if that is normal?
Thanks for any thoughts!![]()
My wife has an Aspire 4730 (about 6 months old) with a freaky touchpad, it gets stuck (in the middle of the screen) and jumps from time to time. Would a driver update help with that?
Sorry for all the questions.![]()

Hey Travel7, welcome to the forums!
Having an audible beep when plugging in or unplugging your laptop's AC adapter is normal, although it seems to be an occasional thing.
As for the DVD access, that's because it's looking for a DVD to boot off of before your hard drive. That's standard on notebooks, because rescue discs tend to be bootable if your operating system goes up in smoke. If you want, you can go into your BIOS and put the hard drive before the DVD drive. -
Thanks for the info TehSuigi!
I was wondering if I should return the 5730, but hearing that all this is normal, I feel much better.
I did use the Acer software included (the 'e' button) and it appears that it does look for the hard drive before the DVD drive already, so not sure what else I can do.
Any idea about the touchpad issue for my wife's aspire 4730? Is that common to have the touchpad 'stick' (when moving accross the screen) and it has a delayed reaction (about 2 seconds later) and 'jumps' accross the screen after the delay. Would a driver update resolve that issue perhaps?
Thanks again!
Acer Aspire 5730 beeps each time the power cords is removed or attached.
