    i have a acer aspire 5734Z i got from some relatives but when i turn it on it turns on i can here the fan kick on an the dvd drive go click click and stuff but then fan stops and it goes dead silent and the screen never shows anything from the beggining by any chance do those little switches that shut off the screen when u close it ... .do they ever brake ...? ive tried hooking it up to another monitor but it doesnt show a screen of anything but it must send some type of a signal cause its just a plain blank screen and once i unplug it it sais no signal no signal all over

    Plz help me because I have some school work that needs to get done and I need to fix this problem

    This just happened to me today. I got this from another thread, it doesn't apply to the aspire 5734z but it worked all the same for me. sorry if its too late. good luck

    Hi Ben,
    yes I fixed it thanks. I had caused the ram to malfunction, by continually letting my battery power run too low. You need to take out the ram then put it back and start up using AC power. Use a start up disc if you have to, to get it to boot up. Then use the computer only on the AC for a couple of times. Turn off when you are using battery power and it starts to run low, as this is what caused my problem. Now my acer 270 is working perfectly (maybe I should touch wood after saying that)
    Anyhow, it was definately a ram problem, you may need a new ram if its still faulty.
