Downloads, I try the exe from your link in this page and have a problem - it wont install stay in the middle of ''overall process'' and nothing. I download the exe from the ati's site and i install it, before that remove the old catalist, but i have one question - when i check in CCC/Information/Version i got 10.11 driver version. I'll post all of this screen:
Driver Packaging Version 8.791-101026a-107890C-ATI
Catalyst Version 10.11
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1094
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0791
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10317
Catalyst Control Center Version 2011.0104.2155.39304
Is this normal or not ? I did not make any game test - don't have time right now.
-
11-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe or 11-1_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc. The '32-64' installer is smaller in size than the '64' one, still it contains both 32 & 64bit drivers. -
Oh, I just realized that puncture bug is a game bug, none of the drivers mentioned causes it, because at the startup of the game if you start a benchmark test, and after the test load a savedgame you will see the bug. BUT if you load a savedgame without a benchmark test the bug won't appear... Ther must be something wrong in the benchmark. -
Gonna see if I get a bit of a better performance on Battlefield Bad Company 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Mass Effect. Not that I'm not already, but more FPS is appreciated
-
Now this is getting over my head. I tried installing the catalyst '32-64' package but it gave me a control center host process shutdown kinda error message whereas the setup log states that everything installed fine without any errors.
To my surprise the setup didn't updated the drivers, it only updated the CCC. I always choose express install for the drivers.
Edit: gedikart, can you confirm this by looking at the driver date in the device manager.
EDIT 2: Now I installed the '64bit only' package from downloads. It installed absolutely fine. I wonder why the AMD crew didn't feed the '32-64bit' package with drivers.
@ka4o_pi4a. try installing the 64bit package again from downloads. Your problem might get solved. -
@ka4o_pi4a
Cats 11.1 have new CCC so you would notice.
Your driver & CCC version indicate an old set of Cats. -
So do i have the latest driver ? When i check in device manager it display the driver is from 26.10.2010... something is wrong i think...
-
No you don't. Try to install either what I've linked or what you can get from ATI website via their download manager- it's exactly the same driver- just the one you get via their download manager has ATI Stream SDK added.
-
But I install the package from ati's site version 11.1 and get the new CCC look but the the driver is stay the old one. Maybe i have to try uninstall everything from ati under save mode and install again in normal windows mode... Give me any sugestins please.
-
Go to device manager, choose your GPU, properties, update driver and then manually navigate to
C:\ATI\Support\11-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF choose a INF file and confirm, then chose Mobility Radeon HD5600/5700 series. -
ka4o_pi4a, Double click the ati install manager in program and features and select exxpress uninstall all ATI software. After that try installing the package from downloads. You might succeed. Even I had same kind of problem.
By the way your Direct3D Version says 8.14.10.0791 but mine says something else. This is what I have got:
Driver Packaging Version 8.812-110104a-111990C-ATI
Catalyst Version 10.11
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1114

Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0806
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10428
Catalyst Control Center Version 2011.0104.2155.39304 -
11.1 working well with my Ubuntu with a 2.6.37 kernel. (Although it didn't like the xorg edgers ppa. (Probably because it doesn't support the xorg version in it.) (ppa-purge is a life saver!)))
I haven't tried windows, yet. -
should i first uninstal the 10.11 driver and then install the 11.1, or install it on top of the old one??
-
Just installed 11.1 on top of 10.11 in windows. No issues at all so far. It looks like linux didn't get the new CCC.
-
-
I did it !!! The problem was that I'm not uninstalling everything from ATI. Now I have 04.01.11 driver version. Thanks to all ! After job I'll make some test with some games to see if it's better and I'll write hire.
-
This is what I did:
1 Uninstalled the drivers via the 11.1 installer
2 Rebooted in safe mode and swept the drivers away with Driver Sweeper
3 Rebooted still in safe mode and cleaned the registry with ccleaner
3 Rebooted in normal mode and installed the new ones
Resuls is this:
Versione del pacchetto di driver 8.812-110104a-111990C-ATI
Versione Catalyst 10.11

What do I do? I tried twice already. -
Guys! I am going to install XP 64-Bit on this laptop just to have a secondary OS for troubleshooting purposes. I used this link ( Graphics Drivers & Software) to find XP 64-bit ati 11.1 drivers but couldn't find it listed in the step 4. Any suggestion?
Moreover are there any drivers of this laptop that I won't be able to find for XP 64-bit? -
@davsim
Chek in device manager what date of driver you have. In device manager i have 04.01.11, but CCC say catalist version 10.1. I uninstall all software from ati but i forget the SDK something, after uninstaling it i run the exe from 'downloads' and choose custom install and there i see the new driver - install all and it works. Try uninstalling this SDK something, it is separated software in uninstall window of the windows os. I hope i help you. -
By the way have some +rep! -
I've uninstalled all ATI components and restarted windows. After the restart there was a previous driver version of ati vga card in device manager (because windows made a backup of it). I removed this old one via device manager and set the checkbox to remove the version from the windows too. So win won't find more prev versions of it, and recognized my card as 'standard vga' or something else.
There is no Versione Catalyst row in my catalys control center by now:
Illesztőprogram csomag verzió 8.812-110104a-111990C-ATI
Szolgáltató ATI Technologies Inc.
2D illesztőprogram verzió 8.01.01.1114
2D illesztőprogram-fájl útvonala /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Verzió 7.14.10.0806
OpenGL Verzió 6.14.10.10428
Catalyst Control Center verzió 2011.0104.2155.39304
If CCC shows that you have Version Catalyst 10.11, that means you have had 10.11 version driver before you installed the new one (11.1), it is a bug in CCC panel, but the driver itself will be the new one - if you check it via device manager (2011.01.04. ver 8.812.0.0)
So If you don't want to view the Version Catalyst 10.11 row in CCC, you should follow my steps written above. -

My input: Doesn't do jack. I think it may have even slowed down some of my games (BFBC2 in particular), though I do think that I can't rule out a crappy ping (I was at around 150).
I saved a restore point, so I'm gonna fiddle around with it a bit more. If nothing happens, I'll probably just go back. -
I have used XP SP2 x64 before and I think its a rather underrated OS. Actually, to me it felt more better and stable than XP SP3 32-bit. Too bad there are drivers for 32 & 64-bit linux but not for XP x64. -
I'm not completly shure but i have little slow down in games. Usualy i play black ops on 300 core and 300 memory and high settings in game and i have (with 10.1) around 30-40 fps - for me is normal play. Today i test with the new drivers and it was very laggy i have 20 fps and lower, when i put the card in normal mode 550 core and 750 memory i have 50-60 fps. The other thig is that i think the graphics are better but i'm not sure. After some more tests I'll write again. Please someone else can replay some game test with old and new drivers. Thanks
-
I've seen either no improvement or little improvement but it feels good- not slower anyway. Then again I haven't had the time to test it extensively so dont quote me on that.
-
Although it might be that I capped my Processor at 80% (Heats up way too much) and that my windows install is very messed up at the moment. I constantly have BSODs which annoy the crap out of me. Need to reinstall later in the future. -
Yes, it's true, BUT i switch off some shadows, motion blur and something else - i don't remember. I didn't have time to play on many games - only black ops. But I try to play 300/300 with triple buffering ON, so I switch it OFF and put to maximal performance in power play and i get 60 fps during the game (sometimes more, sometimes less). Tonight I'll make some new tests.
-
And what about MLAA, does it work? If yes, what is it's impact on visual and performance? -
Hello everyone,
Recently my 5740g crashed and then it started to have random slowdowns. Eventually the system ran chkdsk by itself, and found bad sectors. After running chkdsk a 2nd time, there were no bad ones detected. I ran HDTune and found 0.5% of the hard drive is damaged.
Benchmark here: imgur: the simple image sharer
I was wondering if this is caused by hard drive wear&tear, or is it caused by overheating? I have not once cleaned the fan or components inside, should i be looking for a new hard drive? or is it some other problem?
Right now my comp is running relatively smoothly, but sometimes theres a lag spike when browsing the internet. Thanks, if I left any vital information out, please let me know -
It's most likely not overheating. Can you post the content of the health tab in HD-Tune?
-
I've found a solution, here it is! Rage3D Discussion Area - View Single Post - AMD Catalyst 11.1 & 11.1a Hotfix Now Available
I don't know how to apply it though -
heres the health tab:

everything was ok cept C5. not sure what that is -
@ soasdude
Unfortunately I do know.
Immediately back up your data on whatever medium you have available and start looking for a new HDD.
This one is basically dead- it's only a matter of "when" not "if".
What it means is that you have 257 sectors pending reallocation- meaning sectors that are un-readable or otherwise malfunctioning waiting to be moved to spare sectors that are left there by the manufacturer just in case.
Also G-sense error rate seems to indicate that you have dropped you notebook or it was affected by some other severe shock.
If you feel like it you may RMA it but- if I was Acer I would decline a free repair as it looks like the malfunction is an effect of a mechanical shock.
Another matter is it would take time and HDDs are rather cheap so it's not worth the hassle.
I can't stress it enough- backup your data now! -
ohh thats a bummer
weird i dont think i've dropped it before..cool thanks for your help
good thing i have amazon prime
would this one do? Amazon.com: Western Digital Scorpio 2.5-Inch 500 GB SATA Internal Hard Drive WD5000BEKT (Black): Computer & Accessories
again, thank for the quick reply saved a lot of time coming here to ask questions. -
Yes the WD HDD will be OK (an an upgrade too)
-
tell me the procedure? Can i do it through windows (i have 2 5740DG's mine -windows 7 64bit -and my wife's -windows 7 32bit)..........
-
Hey downloads, is there MLAA in this 11.1? Because I can't see it
-
Nope I can't see it either although I had to work hard to actually disable it
Due to my weird tries on modding 10.12 drivers I've had MLAA and normal AA enabled all the time. I'm so glad not to have it anymore I won't complain this time.
Although I think I've seem MLAA enabled on desktop HD5xxx series in 11.1
-------------------
There was some talk about tessellation improvements in 11.1 so I did a little benchmark.
Heaven Benchmark 2.1
DX11, 1366x768, shaders high, anizo x4, AA off
Catalyst 10.5 (last time I tested it)
Tessellation ON: 13.1fps
Tessellation OFF: 19.5fps
Catalyst 11.1
Tessellation ON: 13.3fps
Tessellation OFF: 20.0fps
I'm not impressed -
Thanks downloads!
It's a shame tough, us mobility users aren't getting MLAA yet.
There's another thing I'd like to ask to you [;D], could you provide us another link to download the current drivers for Atheros Wi-Fi; the links that are on the main page right now don't work. -
I've checked it and the link works.
EDIT: Nope- direct link doesn't work you have to use the download page first.
I'll try to find another source as a back-up.
EDIT2: Another link to Atheros 9.2.0.113 -
@davsim
or you can use this to manually install the drivers for Atheros.
ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows
EDIT: Just ignore the above link. Its crap anyway and are not digitally signed.
Downloads, there are Catalyst XP x64 drivers for desktop cards but not for mobility.
Is there any other way, like modding!
I am asking it again because I am just about to format my HDD. -
Thanks a lot to both of you!
-
YIPEE!! I think I've got the drivers for mobility 5650 for XP x64 but they are old
Lets see how well they get installed. -
realtek R 2.57 sound driver out !

-
Go to kizwan's thread and follow the instructions in the first post- paragraph "Flash BIOS in DOS mode".
Since it's a WPH file you need to create a bootable disk and type in the command. -
After I extend the warranty (and stop procrastinating. I promise I'll do it before my birthday which is on Sunday,) I will send it back in the shop. I have a bad sector (again) on my HDD (just one, but eh, might as well get it fixed ASAP), and also, I've had overheating issues on this laptop. I think the Fan is wearing out, and the insides need alot of cleaning (dust accumulation and also, maybe they'll replace the thermal paste) and one of the hinges is getting loose again (sigh).
I'm kind of losing patience in this laptop. It's great bang for its buck, but the constant repairs needed to it is turning me off. I think this is the first and last Acer laptop that I'll ever buy, and I'll stick to the more durable models of laptops like the Lenovo Thinkpads (Either the T or Y series), after the warranty ends. I'll probably give this laptop to my father (he doesn't care about what laptop he uses, he's still using an old i series IBM thinkpad that runs on Windows 2000 sometimes, compared to that thing, this will be a 10 year leap forward). -
Hey Guys! should I install this iAMT, http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18531/eng/MEI_AMT_ALLOS_6.1.0.1042_PV.exe or is there any newer version available.
There is a ver.7 for acer 7750g. Can that be used? -
iAMT v7 for 7750G refused to install for me.
