Ok, my friend brought a second hand laptop which had a password on the BIOS so I downloaded a copy of the Service Manual online with the procedure on resetting the CMOS.

So I removed the password. I reassembled the laptop and turned it on and all I get is blank screen, fans, hdd and dvd drive shows shows signs of life.

I have formatted a usb, copied the bios file and put the laptop in crisis mode and tryed to restore the bios but it doesn't read the usb.

Have I damaged the CMOS battery or motherboard? is there anything else I can try?
