Hi there, new to the forum.
Just bought an Acer Aspire 5741-3541 with I-core 5 and 500 Gig HDD.
My problem is the trackpad. For some reason, it stops working. Right and left click still work, but the pad stops and wont restart until the lid is closed and reopened.

I have checked the FIN+F7 and it isnt that. I have tried using both Symantec Pointing Device and the ELAN Smartpad drivers, which I am currently using.

Could somebody explain why this is happening?

    Ryan

You can't just choose drivers- which touchpad do you have- which drivers were preinstalled- Synaptics or ELAN?

Could be an ALPS touchpad as well.
Symantec pointing devices are somewhat new for me. I'd be really surprised if they worked :D

It is an ELAN touchpad Driver that was pre-installed. However, it wasn't working very well when I got it. It occasional stops still even on ELAN Drive settings.
