Hello,I have Acer Aspire 5741g 1y old.2 weeks ago i gave it for cleaning and thermal paste change,i reinstalled the windows and cleaned for viruses so it should be working like a new one.But it overheats way too much and the weird thing is that when i start video card / cpu test to pressure it to 100% the temp is 70C max.But when i start even old simple game like WC3 it goes to 80-85C on video card and cpu and if i run a new game like DOTA 2 it does to 90+C.

Howdy stranger and welcome to NBR! You've posted in the right place.

To try increase the temperature in FurMark, try tick Burn-in and Xtreme burn-in and lower the resolution.

Try lower resolution? Also, what about if you run Prime95, OCCT or something to stress the CPU at the same time?
Warning: Watch temperatures. I have personally killed an old notebook by doing this.

Also use something else to measure temperatures- SpeedFan uses wrong offsets. Use GPU-Z to measure GPU temp and something like CoreTemp and/or RealTemp to check if SpeedFan is actually giving you proper readings.

I tryed and its the same.I wanna know what i should do to lower the temp because i think 90C is quite alot for a simple game like wc3.

You should probably re-paste once more. You must have done something wrong.
Also are you sure that it's a quality compound not some counterfeit/fake thermal paste with a proper manufacturer's name on it?

I have the same laptop and the same problem. I tried so hard to keep it cool, but at the end I had to build a cooling stand myself with 6 fans. Still, it is hot.

Old thread, I know, but im facing the same issue of overheating, although I believe I have found the problem. It's simply an inadequate heatsink. People don't know this, or havn't realised... but there are 2 types of heatsink for this laptop. A single heatpipe and a dual heatpipe heatsink. Those of us with overheating issues most likely have the single heatpipe version as seen here:
    http://i00.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/052/890/750/750890052_565.jpg

The solution is to buy the dual heatpipe version, seen here:
    http://mcdn01.gittigidiyor.net/6275/ACER-ASPIRE-5741G-HEATSINK-amp-FAN__62756961_0.jpg

Compare the 2, and you will see that the layout is the same for both. I have bought the dual heatpipe version, and once it's installed, I will update with my results.
