    Hi guys,
    I have Acer Aspire 5742, intel Core i3 2.53 with 2 GB Ram (This is mentioned on the right hand side of the mousepad), I already put another 2 GB in the notebook to get my virtual machines up and running in better way but seems like this note book can sense as only 3GB is installed and from that 3GB My computer properties shows that out of 4 GB only 2.3 GB usable?
    what is that so?

    dedicated video memory is only 128mb...can anyone tell me where to set the full memory usage or atlease how can I use my maximam RAM that is installed.

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

    Do you already have a 64-bit edition of Windows installed? (You can right-click 'Computer' and click Properties to check)

    @namaiki:
    Thanks for your reply my friend.
    No, it says 32-bit Operating System.

    How can I install 64 bit operating system on this notebook as my understanding is that you can not install 64-bit OS on 32-bit hardware..right?
    but I have seen it on other laptops with the same category with different vendors that they have 64-bit?

    please let me know if this causing the problem.
    thanks

    The i3 has 64-bit support. You can install a 64-bit Windows onto that PC, but unfortunately that requires you to re-install everything. Also, make sure to download any drivers that you will need first.
