    Acer Aspire 5742 - Strange noise when turned off but still pluged in?

    Hey All
    I took deliver of an Acer Aspire 5742 Intel Corei5, 4GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive yesterday. So, I spent the day removing the rubbish software that came with it, adding on various programs and tinkering with the screen colours/settings.

    I woke up this morning having left it plugged in last night and the machine was 100% powered down but now if I listen carefully I can hear strange noises coming from the machine, when its not even on!. They sound digital, almost like an old modem type noise. They are quiet high pitched and go on for about 30 secs, stop for 1 sec then carry on. It does this whenever the machine is booted down and the power lead is still plugged in.
    Its definitely coming from the machine because if I pull the power lead out, it stops.
    Even though its turned off its like its still trying to power something.

    Can others check if theres do this too please?

    I didnt notice if this was happening yesterday, but can only assume it was.
