    Hello, everyone.

I have a 5742G laptop that I recently purchased. Perhaps I can get help regarding an issue I am having with video playback?

The one I bought includes an i3 processor and a Nvidia Geforce GT520m graphics card with Nvidia Optimus Technology. Every video I play, whether it is on Youtube, through VLC Media Player, Media Player classic, iTunes, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, etc, I have horizontal tearing. Vertical sync is enabled through the Intel HD control panel and the Nvidia control panel, but the problems still persist.

If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Is tearing occuring during full screen as well as windowed? Sometimes when I watch certain videos, VLC will tear while WMP won't tear, or visa versa. I always thought it was a video/codec issue or something.

Only when put in full screen.

This includes +720p videos? I can only attest to my experience, and the only real times I have tearing, which is already rare, is if I'm watching a DVD quality video (~480p) on full screen with a media player (VLC, WMP). Even when I do have tearing, it's momentarily, and seems to be because of the content of the shot (sudden change of color/light, obvious framerate changes like that).

It happens every time, the entire time, while watching any sort of video, with any player (including browsers)?

720p video as wel. This is bothersome because I have iTunes purchases that I can't watch because it's unbearable.

The problem was solved by performing a factory restore. That is really, really odd.
