    Hi forum,
As mentioned in the title of the forum, I have an Acer Aspire 5742Z, and honestly I've had enough of the stupid Pentium P6100 Processor, and wanted to upgrade it to a better processor: perhaps an i5 processor. Honestly, I have minimal knowledge on processors and what-not, but my brother said that I can't just buy a processor, it needs to have the right slot.

So I did some research, and it said that the laptop takes Core i3, Core i5, i7 or what-not, but only if it's compatible with the HM55 chipset. I have no idea what any of this means, so I thought I'd go to a discussion board and ask for help (in this topic).

If any of you can point me in the right direction to where I can buy a processor compatible with my laptop, that would be much appreciated. However, I'm from the UK, so can you please redirect me to a UK buying site (not Amazon.com or what-not) that would be even more helpful.

    Thanks a lot guys!
