Hello,
I am having a problem with the cooling on this laptop, I'm on windows Ultimate 64bit sp1 and the fan keeps running at the same speeds.
Windows was installed a few days ago and just came back from the acer repair due to the fans being blocked and not spinning, they cleaned it up and their testruns were a succes according to them.
Now I was busy installing apps on newly installed windows and the temps rise to 80/95 degrees only by doing that, i tested an fast to download game like minecraft and temps raised to almost 100c so I closed it...turbo boost kicked in during those events to 3,00ghz which I now have turned off and multiplier is set to 20 (2,00ghz) and even that makes it go to 80/90 while doing minor tasks like installing apps or browsing
so the fans have been tested by acer and they gave it back to me, this is a clean installed win7 with none of the acer apps on it, and I read on multiple forums from last year ago that ePower Management was the thing that controls the fan speed, im on ultimate and it doesn't seem to be compatible
Other games tested was TF2 and with the throttlestop settings it hung at 90/98c degrees, the fan still spinning at only one speed, my bios of the acer 5755g is 1.15.
To sum it up:
- aspire 5755's fan is not reacting to changes in computing tasks, when on load it still spins at idle speeds(?) causes temps to rise to 100 which would make it auto shutdown
- im on win7 ultimate sp1 and ePower isn't compatible with it it seems, the drivers were meant for home premium x64 so downgrading would work?
- even at boot the fan spins normally as if it's not hot at all
I'm clueless here, and the reason I sent it to acer was because the fan started spinning way too hard while possible dust blocking it, causing speeds to throttle down and games/apps running slow until it auto shutdown and the fan stopped at next boot. they gave it back to me but the 1 speed only fan problem still exists.
specs:
CPU
Intel Core i5 2430M 2,4GHZ up to 3,00 ghz turbo
RAM
8 GB
HDD
750 GB
GPU
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2 gig video memory
Help with this would be very kind.
EDIT: Now running at multiplier 20, turbo boost disabled, temps hanging at 66c, max was 86c with light cpu tasks, no games or video editing etc.
EDIT2: I'm now on windows 7 x64 home premium, the laptop is sitting on a cooler master lapair external cooler, and the temps still go up to the 95c, I have also sprayed the fan with compressed air in bursts and nothing seems to be blocking the fan as it spinned normally when the air reached it.
EDIT3: Pics of the temps(was when playing TF2, but normal things like installing apps makes it go to 80c already)

I purchased 2 of these Acer 5755G notebooks last Xmas for my kids and for 6 months things seemed to be fine with them playing World of Warcraft and Minecraft.
Over the last 30 days 1st one and then the second laptop have displayed the same symptoms as the OP. I originally dropped the first in at a Computer repair store but they said they could find nothing wrong with the fan or motor. I have now sent it in to Acer for evaluation and repair.
In reading your post I am now concerned that it will come back un fixed.
When using the laptop for web surfing and general computing type functions it runs fine but still at a higher temp than I would expect (85 degrees C +)
If the OP found a solution could you please post.
thanks. -
I'm pretty sure that the techs at Acer would of fixed something if there was actually something to fix. They just blew out all of the dust and debris that build up over time. Its something that a regular consumer can easily do periodically for maintenance. Dust debris builds inside the fan and around the vent holes. The fan only kicks when it needs to but it doesn't spin all of the time. So don't be over concerned.
If you really want to effectively lower cpu temps then buy a tube of quality thermal paste/compound and apply it on the surface of the cpu. Thermal compound helps to dissipate the heat that the cpu produces to the cpu heat sink. Artic Silver 5 and Artic Coolin MX-2 or 3 are the most popular ones. Youtube for a tutorial. Good thermal paste will lower your temps.
Oh, and you don't need to worry about the Acer e-management software. It was always needless bloatware in my opinion. Its certainly way out of date to begin with. Uninstall it entirely and use the Windows utilities instead. -
Hi I had the same problem with my Acer 5755g i7 . suddently my fan didnt spin up and cpu getting really hot games not working .... At that time I found a temporary solution get the hoover place it on the back of the laptop and suck the air from the round fan give it a few spins like 10 seconds . that worked for me at the time my fan was up and running. A week ago i noticed my cpu was getting hot about 95-100c and reducing the speed even my fan was responsive when I load the CPU. I decided to reaply the thermal compound on gpu and cpu , after I dismantled everything I noticed aloot too much thermal compound was on cpu and gpu from factory wich is wrongggg Acer. I was thick and dry. After i clean it and put the new paste averything works normal. On cpu stress full 10 min my laptop gets on maximum 87-88c without throttling.
Ps I noticed that fan plugwas damaged the plastic was cracked and wires loose so prob thats what my hoover solvedglued the wires on the rest of the plug and now wotks like new.

I'm having the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5755G Core i7. I bought it for playing MMORPGs but then found I didn't have time to play them until last week. As soon as I started playing the laptop started overheating and I noticed that the fan was not working. I gave it a blast of air to check if it was just dust in the fan. The fan spun, so it's not that. fortunately it is still under warranty so I will give them a ring.

Here is a working ini for 5750g/55g for ACFANCONTROL
FAN speed around 2000 rpm
feel free to edit
thats the best I could do.
