Does it come with bluetooth? I have the button, and many reviews have stated its included. But when I press the shortcut button to turn it on I get the message "No Device".
Have Acer forgotten to install the bluetooth? Or do I need a driver that didn't come installed?
-
-
its not there
mine has the button and the software but "NO DEVICE".
I think its Acers way of getting you to spend more cash -
It's an option just like ReadyBoost is. Don't blame it on ACER, you either want BT or ReadyBoost or not.
For exmaple:
Aspire 5920G-302G16N LX.AGW0X.120 NO BT
LX.AGW0X.160 DOES HAVE BT. -
-
If you don't need 'em you don't buy 'em.
And that we have people complaining that they bought not what they wanted :/
Don't be tempted to save 100- look at the exact model number and COMPARE -
-
As for the HD DVD x1 speed I wouldnt buy it- I don't expect good writing quality nor firmware updates. And there is basically no way of firmware being good without the right write strategies. With no recordable HD DVDs on the market how can those strategies be customized -
My Drive not allow it when I try to do It.Hmmmm Intel SATA Driver BuG? -

Guys that is not the point. Trusted Reviews who did one of the first Uk reviews of this notebook got a model priced at £799.99 with Turbo Memory and Bluetooth.
I didn't expect an 8 cell battery (Im not sure which I have) because in the review, TrustedReviews stated they expected retail models to be supplied with a 6 cell model.
Thus, I now have two dummy buttons on the left hand side of the notebook, but again, im not worried because I hardly ever use bluetooth which can drain battery like nobodys business.
Acer should simply supply their reviewers with the notebook the general public read, and expect to get.
My Model is LX.AGS0X.015 (5920G-302G16N) So no bluetooth, but it does feel like a small cost cutting measure. That said I do appreciate the excellent value the laptop still represents.
Just out of curiosity. "downloads" said that bluetooth was an option. Does Acer actually sell an Aspire 5920 with both bluetooth and turbo memory, or did you mean that you could pick whichever features you want? As far as I know, this is the only model avaliable in the UK at two different online stores. SO no bluetooth for anyone.
A little bonus though is the dual mics near the webcam. They were not mentioned in any review, so I thought I might have to fork out for a headset...seems I save that money now.
Plus the software Acer$ installed is supposed to use the bluetooth feature with a
VOIP phone. However now we have dual mics and a webcam, it isnt neccessary.
Well...I think I might try HL2 on it now. Spent all day making recover discs and testing hard drive recovery...It was very long and boring...but works excellent. -
I am waiting for some "brave" sole around here to pull there BlueTooth module out and gives us a part number, as well as a location where it resides within the 5920G... A few photos would be great as well.
This will benifit everyone here looking to add factory BlueTooth to there 5920G. -
Could you tell me your 5920 configuration and the price ...
And is it possible to change the configuration of a model(even removing an HD DVD)? Will it bring a change in price... -
so, any news on Bluetooth internal upgrade?
-
Until someone opens there 5920G up, and takes a photo of where it resides, and then takes the model number off of it... Where stuck!!
-
i am planning to buy the acer aspire 5920, and i looked in the local markets, it has bluetooth in them
-
Make sure that you see the words BlueTooth printed on the side of the box, and that the BlueTooth symbol is in the device manager. All 5920G's "appear" to have BlueTooth as the button is there.

My Acer 5920G302G16 has a bluetooth. I dont know the model number something like LX.... yet. I will find it out later. I got this laptop yesterday and it was bought from singapore.
-
aerofighter,
If you could.... A photo of where the BlueTooth resides along with a part number for the module would be greatly appreciated. -

while we wait for someone to tell us the model number of the internal bluetooth module I went ahead and bought Microsoft Bluetooth KHeyboard 7000 ($100). It is perfect for Media Center use and comes with bluetooth dongle.
Unfortunately, I am having an issue with it. It will not respond when I am at the Vista logon screen, so I have to use mouse to enable "On-Screen Keyboard" that I use to enter logon password. When windows is loaded to desktop I can finally use it. Not sure if it's a Vista, drivers or bluetooth dongle issue here. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? -

I am not sure myself, I don't think it's visible if you remove the cover

Btw, I just ordered replacement Intel wifi link b/g/n card and when I'll be replacing that I will see if I can find where the module would go.
Also, this could very well be the module that we need.

Somebody said in another post that one would need to "remove some trim under the screen". I think he meant under the black plastic areas.

>Somebody said in another post that one would need to "remove some trim under the screen". I think he meant under the black plastic areas.
I think that was for one that had an antenna.
On another note....
looking at Klas's photo, i have to comment on his wireless chip.. I believe it is the Intel 4xxxxxxxxx that does wireless a,b,g & n. I'm surprised the middle (#3) antenna connector is not connected, it's supose to be for the wireless n. Maybe it just shares off the other two (#1 & #2). I have seen photos of this (4xxxxxxxxxx) Intel chip in other notebooks and #3 is connected to an antenna for "n".
My Intel wireless chip in my 5920G is the 3xxxxxxxx series a,b,&g. It only has two antenna hookups (#1 & #2), no #3.
If this is the case than adding the Intel wireless 4xxxxxxxxx chip is just a drop in with Acer drivers from there website. -
I just installed this same BT reciever (I recognize the Asian hologram sticher). It installed in minutes, though I still havent found a driver package that works completely (see my other thread on the subject). It's made by CSR... http://www.csr.com/home.php.

You got me worried here...
first of all it's not my photo I just got it from Acer 5920G pics thread, second of all it should be using 3xxx series of Intel chip, but what made me worried is you mentioning that the 3rd connector should be used for N. I just ordered Intel 4xxx series with n and how would I hook that up? -
Just opened the back cover on mine and yes there are only 2 wires!
-
Guys do not panic
First to get the new Centrino sign for Santa Rosa manufacturers had to include some kind of MIMO- meaning 3 antennas but some time later Intel dropped the idea and made it optional.
So it is N but it may not be as good as in some other notebooks.
Usually when sth is optional you will not see this- how many users would know or even notice increased range or sth? -
I bought the laptop only a week ago. I am afraid to open the back cover.
I am giving u the serial number of my model LXAGW0X1077210FB592500.
I think this the the motherboard serial number. -

You can add bluetooth module to Acer Aspire 5920. I just got finishing doing it. It is late so I will write a tutorial sometime this weekend for anyone who is interested in doing the modification. You can get the parts from http://www.notebooksoultions.ca
you will two parts
1. Acer Aspire 3620, 7000, 7110, 9300 & 9410 Bluetooth module
2. Acer Aspire 5920 Bluetooth cable
3. really small screws (like the ones found in a eye glass kit) have to get on
your own.
You need both parts, the thing is that they charge you $62 for the module (not bad IMO) but then they charge you $30+ for the cable.
If they are out of the cable you can email them to give you a replacement cable, They didn't send me my cable because they were out, but they sent a replacement that worked perfectly.
I will put together a full document with picture on how to do the modification tomorrow. But it can be done. -
I'm interested in the upgrade, but $100 seems like a lot. Aren't USB bluetooth dongles about $20?
-

Ok, I became a member of this forum just because this one thing. If anyone has the 5920 version with bluetooth could that person post an internal picture with the bluetooth module visable? @ mikeisfly: what you posted, could you maybe add some photos on how you did that? Also, I found a couple of modules on ebay, do you maybe know wich ones are good to use and wich aren't? And is http://www.notebooksolutions.ca a good site? Looks bogus to me... Holler back.

Hi all
i'm an italian guy who have bought some time ago a 5920G (t7300, 8600gt 256mb)..
i registered to this forum for sharing with you one thing i've found on an italian forum about the bluetooth 5920 question..
http://notebookitalia.it/forum/consigli-per-gli-acquisti/bluetooth-acer-5920-702g25/view-12.html
in this page (in italian language) there is a very detailed guide on how to add the bluetooth module.. the images are small but if you copy all the image adresses and paste them in a new tab\window, you can see the images in full resolution. i hope i've helped someone.
ps i'm not the author of the guide..
bye -
Well Berseker, maybe you can post the whole guide here but translated in English? Since you're Italian and all. Maybe you can ask the guy where he got the bluetooth from?
BTW, looks all very convincing but really, all that for bluetooth? -
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fnotebookitalia.it%2Fforum%2Fconsigli-per-gli-acquisti%2Fbluetooth-acer-5920-702g25%2Fview-12.html&langpair=it%7Cen&hl=it&ie=UTF-8
this is the best i can do for you.. btw, he got the bluetooth module from the same site mentioned here, notebooksolutions.ca .. in fact, i will NOT do that kind of work on my 5920 only for the BT, for now i'm using a very fast-to-use, easy and cheap BT usb dongle.. maybe someone could think of buying this trust module, which is VERY little and unnoticeable.. link -
If anyone still wonders...
This would be the one: Link
And indeed at www.notebooksolutions.ca you would get the 5920 cable for the module. -
it would be nice to have bluetooth cuz i hate having the usb thingy sticking out of my latop for my wireless mouse. i could use a bluetooth mouse.
