It is an output port, so no.

Is the HDMI version on this laptop 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3?

why you are asking? I can tell you it works fine on my 1080P Shrarp LCD TV with the right NVIDIA driver. on some drivers I got underscan.

I've had good results on my Sammy 23" using the installed drivers that came with the machine.

Use the NVIDIA control panel to set things up. I found that it's much easier.

you are right - the stock driver works fine but it's cr..p for gaming. some are good for gaming but bad for HD dvd playback. some give underscan via HDMI - you have to try them before you decide.
