    Hi!

I've come across this problem when my DVD doesn't read burnt discs, yet burns the blank ones ok. But I can read those exact discs on any other machine. I'm using it on Acer Aspire 5920G. Is it something wrong with the burner or is it only in windows? Please help.

    Burner... or burner firmware..

call ACER.. they may have a newer firmware file for it,,,
otherwise it will need to be replaced

I meant whether is it a hardware or software problem. I'm not sure, but this problem started when I installed sp3 for xp windows.

windows should have no relevence to the reading of DVDs,,, that is controlled by the firmware and chips embedded in the drive it's self,,

thus it is a hardware problem,, but a firmware update (software that updates the code in the hardware) may solve your problem
