Take your laptop to an electronic specialist.
You probably affected other components when you baked the gpu and they gave out soon after.
It could be any of a number of problems.

You haven't killed the laptop btw. All off the 8xxx series gpus for laptops had the issue.

Baking it will only fix it for awhile. Go to the mxm cards and models thread and ask what would be a suitable replacement then go buy it.

    Should be quite easy.

9600m gt 512mb ddr3 is best upgrade for you you just need BIOS from mxm card and model thread.

DDR3 VideoRAM on the videocard by no means can cause a compatability issue. It is just the type of VRAM videocard is using and does not depends on to the DDR2 RAM motherboard is using.
Other than 9600M GT, you could also use an ATI 3650 mobility as a reliable card in this laptop, but keep in mind that in this case you will have to use a copper shim on the chip, for that ATI's GPU is about 1mm thinner than the Nvidia one, so good radiator contact is only achived by the shim + fair amount of themral compound.

stuartswaller, couple months. Replacing with 9600M GT, or better GT2X0M (the latter simply plug'n'play), will free from this baking crap.
