If you do not have a digital output device attached to your laptop, then you won't hear anything. You need to switch it to the default hardware on your laptop, instead.

    Hi
I have the same laptop, according to the manual there should be an option for "realtek digital output", from which I can modify dolby output, and not require any other equipment. Instead, all I have is "realtek digital output (optical)" which presumbly would require additional equipment.

How do I get dolby working then, or not have the optical only setting.
