    Hey.

I'm currently staying with a friend in uni, about 5 people use the wifi connection in the house.

He recently got a new charger for the laptop, and whenever he plugs it in, for some reason it seems to slow the internet connection for everyone in the house to a snails pace, then instantly speeds up when he removes it.

I have no idea how that works, but I thought it must be something wrong with the power saving, which is where I noticed something strange. Under the profile he uses normally, the wireless adapter is set to power saving while on battery and maximum performance while on charge while you'd think that the issue would be because it was on power saving.

I'm trying to plug it in while the adapter is always set to power saving but I cant seem to get consistent results since the connection doesnt seem to be that amazing in the first place.

    The laptop:
    Acer Aspire 5920g
    1.5GB ram
    Intel Core 2 duo T7300 @ 2.00GHz
    Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
    Geforce 8600M GS

Bios is on the latest version.

My main confusion is that people complain that the entire connection is extremely slow when he goes to charge his laptop, I really have no idea how it could be having that effect?

My guess is that the charger is dying, and the charging voltage is noisy. This noise then leaks into the WiFi adapter's power circuits, and eventually ends up radiated out together with the WiFi signal.

Check if another charger solves this issue.

unless he starts downloading lots of stuff and leaving it there, my only thing I ca think of is to turn his laptop off to standby when he leaves it to be p[ut on charge.
