I have had this problem fro a while.

When I boot my laptop Acer Aspire 5930 from cold, it does not boot.

All I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left.

If I switch it off and on again it works perfectly.

Any suggestion? Can it be the cmos battery faulty? I do not have any problem with time and date though.

    Thanks

do you have anything of memory devices in USB ports? Like memory sticks or external disks or anything that can be recognized as a storage device?
