    Hi ALL,

I recently formatted my Acer Aspire 5935G and downloaded and installed all drivers from the Acer website. I currently am experiencing the following probs:

    1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
    2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
    - Both video cards are installed

    Current OS - Vista Ultimate x86 SP1

    Any ideas? Thanksss

1.) might have to install Launch manager for your specific laptop. Not sure though
2.) is this a driver issue? Try checking the bios, I think it's there where you enable/disable the switcher for integrated/discrete GPU's.

tried the launch manager, but it is used for other stuff not for the powersmart button.

dual video cards are enabled from the bios and i updated to the latest bios too..

Acer does not even have the PowerSmart Manager application under this laptop in downloads, i tried downloading PowerSmart Manager under a different laptop but does not work, gives error in setup...

I hope you did burn the recovery disc if not factory recover and burn again.
PowerSmart and launcher must be installed to use the powersmart button.
Try latest hybrid drivers from laptopvideo2go

I installed the launcher and tried to install the PowerSmart Manager (which i downloaded under apps of another laptop) but gives an error.

Same problem here. Attempted a Win 7 stock install on my 5935g and although the rest of the install went fine (drivers are up on Acer.com support) the NVidia G130m will NOT work as the principle/only adapter on boot. You must use the onboard Intel.

I was able to go into the BIOS and go to switchable graphics, boot, load the drivers for both Intel and NVidia, then disable the Intel and the system would run on the NVidia (confirmed running warcraft) BUT if you reboot - same problem - disables the NVidia and switches back to the Intel. You must reload the driver for the NVidia again...etc.

I am wondering what the issue here is, but my guess is it is BIOS related or something at a low level in the machine.

PLEASE tell me how you managed to switch the graphics card in the BIOS. I can find nowhere to let me do this and I desperately need to do it so that I can use the correct card under Linux.
