    Hello,

I Purchased the Acer Aspire 5935G with Windows Vista.
When i Bought the Laptop I did not receive a copy of Windows Vista. Is this Normal?

I have installed now Windows 7 Ultimate and that replaced the Vista that was running on the laptop before.

After installing Windows 7, it seem that all my drivers are gone, Fingerprint doesn't work, Media control doesn't work as it used to, ETC...
WHAT happened? How can I fix this?

Something is also taking up a lot of space on the HDD.
The file Windows.Old -Can I delete that whole file? do i need it?

Thanks a lot for your help.. Just want my laptop to work normally.

    Mathias

To fix the drivers issue: Download appropriate drivers for your hardware from either acer's or the hardware manufacturers website. Some of the driver updates should also be available on windows update if you cant find on acer's website.

Reagarding the lack of Vista DVD, most manufacturer put the restore files and ability to burn a restore DVD on the HDD and expect the customer to burn their own discs. You probably should have done that before upgrading the system to Win 7.

The windows.old folder contains the files from your Vista installation. Basically Windows 7 created that folder and put everything from the previous OS in there. If you have a backup of your important data then its safe to delet the folder. But before you delete just be sure that you have all your data intact, otherwise you should still be able to find it in that folder.

Vista drivers will work on 7 in a pinch.
Media controls are done through the Dritek Launch Manager.

    Otherwise, what miner said.
