This thread should help Acer Aspire 5951g owners gain access to the default ram slots in their machine or help them replace their keyboard.

NOTE: There are usually 2 empty slots behind the easy accessible back cover. The 2 default slots are behind the keyboard.

Please note, the ram you put in this machine should be at least 1333 speed to maintain your current performance levels (in my case I would rather keep the 4gb of 1333mhz factory ram over installing 8gb of 1066mhz ram).

Here is the email I received from Acer, I hope this helps people enjoy their Aspire 5951 as much as me.

    Hello *****

There are 2 sets of x2 ram slots on this machine.

one you can easily access via the bottom of the machine
    the other behind your keyboard

i have attached a few images from our service guide (unfortunatley due to company policy i cannot send the entire PDF to you)

I hope this helps anyone else with my issue. (I found that I want to wait until I buy better ram perhaps 18**mhz speed before I just drop any old sticks in)

Also I would like to thank Ray24 over at the Acer Ethos AS8951G/AS5951G Owners Lounge thread for helping me install the (what should be defaulted) dolby home theatre v4 system. Check pages 29 and 30 for the final solution and links.

I have benchmarked this system on Heaven twice with the default 1366x768 screen resolution.

    with my factory 2x2gb ddr3 1333mhz = Scored 431

with a failed attempt at upgrading the ram to 12gb by adding 2x4gb ddr3 1066mhz in the empty slots behind the backing plate = 0

After I installed the Ram I needed to do a system restore because of corrupted boot files (don't ask me how this happened) and I decided to run heaven anyway despite the obvious problems I had caused myself it ran for a about 30 seconds and crashed.

I will now wait until I get myself 2x4gb sticks of 18**mhz ram as I remember seeing in a thread somewhere that this is compatible.

perfect description! Thank you - worked perfect for replacing the keyboard. A little note:

    Step 2: removing the connetors
The remove has to be done very carefully, otherwise the conector poles will deform.
