Hey, I'm having a problem with my Acer Aspire 6530. I bought it roughly a month ago, and when I bought it the speakers worked perfectly. Just a few days ago, the speakers started making weird cracking sounds whenever I would turn the volume up past a certain level. I tried adjusting volume settings, but nothing seemed to work. I eventually just restarted my PC in hopes that it was some Windows bug, and the speakers began working again, BUT the built in subwoofer seems to be completely nonfunctional, as no low frequency bass whatsoever can be heard. So I'm just wondering, do any of you have similar issues, and if so, are there any workarounds to this problem? I am very annoyed by this as I just bought this laptop, and it had (imo) really good quality sound before.

Edit:I have went into the Realtek settings and tried turning the subwoofer all the way up, I have tried adjusting bass settings, etc, but none of them make a difference.

    Hi Frank

I have a 6530 also (got it back in May) and just started having a similar problem also. I haven't been able to look into it further. Does your problem seem to be driver or hardware related?

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your problem but when I first heard the speakers in my 6530 there was a type of distortion sometimes when listening to certain songs. It was like a sort of overdriven distortion as if the note being played on the song resonated (too much) with the speaker enclosure. I fixed it by going into the settings and cranking down the subwoofer setting as it was maxed out. I think that if I had left it alone then the distortion might have damaged my computer sound system. Maybe that is what happened to your machine.

You shouldn't expect anything like real "bass" out of the "TUBE" subwoofer because it's just marketing, and I really think that the default levels are much too hot for the speakers.
