    Hi,

Does anyone know the screen specs for the Acer Aspire 6920/8920 or where to get them from? I found a review that stated the 6920's contrast ratio as being 190:1 http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-Aspire-6920G-Notebook.8783.0.html

Can someone confirm that the contrast ratio is really this poor? I really like these notebooks except for the possible poor screen contrast.

    Thanks

The contrast is pretty good with my laptop, try going to a store and playing around to get a feel of things.

Yes, I would check them out locally; however, there aren't any here. Here's a video comparing a 8920 screen to a Samsung 32". The color seems to be very good. It does look a little washed out though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmQgQjtjpO4

I just bought one last night, and I feel totally duped. Best Buy's website specified native resolution as 1920 x 1080. All the packaging and labeling also say this and WUXGA, in several places. After setting up, I right-clicked on background, went to 'personalize', then 'display settings', moved bar to highest resolution, and it clearly reads, "1680 x by 945 pixels". Can you say 'class action'?

time for class action lawsuit against BB and ACER

sure they can change specs.... but the BOX should contain the items it says...

that's like buying a RAM UPGRADE KIT,,, that has 30 pin sims instead of 240 pin DIMMS as advertised on the box!

Not only is it false advertising, it's the fact that WUXGA is 1920 x 1200, not 1920 x 1080, so there are layers of deception from Acer, and sellers (how can they not do a simple check like this on their items for sale, tho of course they have their carefully worded disclaimers). I will bet the Better Business Bureau will be quite interested, among others.
