    Hello.
i have an Acer Aspire 6920G-6894 and i can't install windows xp. i have an empty space, no partition, set up for it using Computer Managment and i know how to set up a Dual-Boot afterwards, but when i boot to my XP cd, it doesn't detect my hard drive, it's XP w/SP2 CD. can anyone tell me how to get it to detect it. does acer have something done in the BIOS/CMOS so i can't install without acer specific software?

Not so - XP may not have the SATA drivers needed to view your hard drive.
I believe there's an option in your BIOS that'll change the hard drive from AHCI to IDE mode. The latter should get it visible by the XP disc.

i would not recommend using the BIOS to change to IDE method for HDD transfer...

instead make an XP CD following the instructions in this link...

otherwise you will have to go into the bios everytime you switch OS's

the reason XP won't load is because it doesn't have the SATA DRIVERS in XP, so you must use NLITE to embed the correct drivers into the XP SETUP

just follow thier directions to make the CD,, don't worry about the fact that the page is directed at the aspire 5315, that CD will work on ANY INTEL BASED COMPUTER...
