Thinking of buying one of these machines. Has anyone seen one with the full HD resolution? Hows the text size? Worried it might be a bit small since I am used to 1280*800.
However the lower resolution doesnt come with the blue ray or penryn. Unfortunately my local shop only has the standard resolution laptop so nothing to compare with.

I havent seen one but remember you can still reduce the resolution if its to small for you, it just means that you can use full hd for HD video and games
-
My 6920G, with T9300 and Blu-Ray has the 1366x768 resolution. So...
The full HD is better looking on the 8xxx series, this "small" screen fits better the HD version.
P.S. If you buy one, check for dead pixels. Mine has 3 and I can't get it to service... after 3 days and almost 2500$ spent on it. -
damn $2.5k! btw 1366x768 isn't full HD. you don't even need the higher res in a laptop screen.
-
I have the full 1080p HD version of the 6920g and don't find it too small, it's very clear and I find going back to my old 20" 1680x1060 monitor a bit of a shock to the system, having been entirely happy with it before.
Does have one dead pixel though, which is occasionally annoying. -
Wich was price difference between the HD and full HD version?
-
About 100 uk pounds - the one with T8100 and 1366x768 screen was 900, mine with T8300 and 1920x1080 screen was 1000.
-
Hmmm... should I ask them replacing my dead pixel HD screen with a full HD one maybe?
-
There are two displays available:
1366x768 - HD ready 720p
1920x1080 - HD ready 1080p -
1080p is full HD.

Just got this laptop - overall very pleased with it. Went for the lower resolution in the end (mainly on price).
However I have noticed it seems a little washed out/unsharp in appearance. Anyone else had the same problem? Had a look at another one in a local shop and that had the same charateristic. -
Check who is manufacturer of display.
-
Its a Samsung. I thought all the Acer 16" were Samsung?
-
Yep. Reviews I read Aspire 6920G have Samsung display. Hm, I don't know
. For me display looks ok.
-
Think its possibly because the resolution is not that high (1366*780). Still everything is nice and easy to read. I felt the 1440*990 on the Dell I had though very sharp was a tad too small for a 15.4".
Overall I think the screen is fairly nice. No grain whatsover, no dead pixels and good contrast levels.
Only problem c&c tiberium wars doesnt seem to support the native resolution and therefore "stretched" the image. Improved things alot by turning off in the Nvidia control panel the screen fit setting. Got a few black lines now but least its in the correct aspect ratio. -
Hey there--
I would appreciate it if anyone who has seen both 6920G screen types (1366x768 and 1920x1080) to comment on the quality and differences--including brightness, viewing angles, and contrast.
I've been heavily considering getting a 6920. However, I have a friend who purchased one with the 1366x768 and I wasn't very impressed. Colors and brightness were ok, but there are a number of big flaws for me. First of all, the resolution is a little low for this screen size/aspect ratio. Second the whites are a little too reddish (pink) for my tastes and there was no way to fix this with gamma or color temperature. Then the viewing angles are among the worst I've seen--needing me to readjust the screen every time I moved a little.
When playing World of Warcraft on the 6920, I just kept thinking that the image looked incredibly flat and washed out as astral83 pointed out above. That being said, this unit has a BluRay player and the movies look incredible on it.
I was wondering if anyone can talk about their experiences with the 1920x1080 and let me know if it is any brighter, richer, etc than the 1366 screen (both are made by Samsung I read somewhere). -
I have also been considering this model laptop.
But I just personally really hate the vertical resolution of 768 pixels. My current laptop is at 1200x800 and i find its so hard to fit a full page document on the screen already.
I have seen the low-res version in stores, but didn't think it was so bad. but I never got to try any programs or anything on it.
I have a problem with finding the 1080p version in Canada. It would be something I would pay extra for since its an investment for 2-3 years. -

well i have been tryin to get my hands on this laptop for 1 month
n here in UAE the prices are as follows
6920 (1900*1080) 7000
6920 (1366*768) 5000
now after all my research i found tht the only use for the 1080p is tht if u cannot it to a bigger LCD or something like ur TV
otherwise u would get tht big of a difference on the laptop there will be difference but not major but according to me its not worth 2000K
n plus all laptops come with same other specx
same (gphx card, blue ray, ram)
n then theres
8920 (1900*1080) 7500
which is 18.4 inches n 9650 gphx card (no thts a monster but no portability) -
I have the acer Aspire 6920
on the laptop it has stickers saying it is " Full HD 1080 playback "
But it only has 1366x768 resolution it has blu ray dvd aswell
Can any one tell me if this is right or their is a fault with the laptop i have.
email me on [email protected]
please help -
I think it only works if you connect it elsewhere.

I believe that this notebook fits HD res. best. Mainly because if you want to play games on it it's a lot less pixels for the GPU to worry about, and this 9500 GS is a relatively slow card, so I think there's no need to put more load on the GPU if you don't have to.

Hey,
I have bought an Acer 6920G. I spent a little more and got the 1080P screen so my resolution goes up to 1080.
I have had problems with it though. The screen randomly goes blank (no back light) like there is no power to it. I sent it back to acer who "fixed it" by replacing the motherboard. They didnt bother testing it before sending it back though, because the issue persists! The kindly wiped the HDD though, I backed everything up, but still quite a pointless exercise.
I am sending it back again tomorrow. Hopefully they will fix it this time.... -

Whats your model number? -
yeah i'm starting to get annoyed at the 768 vertical pixels... finger is tired from scrolling all the time
it frustrates me to see people with 13" systems be able to display more vertical pixels than me
wish acer could've put like a 1600x900 screen or something like the sony fw series... -
800/900-768... man, does it really matters 32 or 132 pixels?
-
ive always used a 1280x1024 screen prior to getting this laptop so thats the resolution im most used to -
I have an acer 6920G and i sell them, however i must say ive owned alot of computers this one by far is the worst ive ever owned
ive had it back o acer 3 times with various different problems from the hardrive to the memory and it still doesnt work i am very dissapointed and will not be dealing with acer in the future.

i have 1080p screen but my tv is 'only' 720p, using hdmi the picture is scaled ok automatically but not very clear. also, setting the laptop to 720p results in a fuzzy picture. any suggestions for clear picture on tv?
-

1366x768 is not full hd...
but i think those notebooks will only have hd.
