Thanks. i trying it now. Hopefully successful. 1 more question, do you open your rmclock during startup? or you open it when you needed it?

I open it at start-up. It is necessary because I would like to cool-down my CPU using the undervolt features of RMclock.
In addition, RMclock uses a little resources only not too much.
I suggest you to include your RMclock at start-up as well.

DO NOT go straight to 0.925V, because it may not be stable on your system.
Every CPU is different, even in the same series.
    Test voltages for stability FIRST.

I just undervolted and got from 1.1250 to 0.9375! And Mirror's edge/Orthoss never throttled my CPU! The main CPU temp didnt seem to go down too much for the later adjustments but it seems to max at 54c now while idling at 47 atm. Took me a few hours though :/ prob need to do some more Orthos tests.

    New info for you! XD!
Try don't overclock so much on your GPU.
Set it to 500/430/1000 and use my 1st post in this thread to tweak again. Just now, I tried 540/440/1100 and the CPU throttle occurs!! Then, I revert back to 500/430/1000 and no throttle.
I don't is this work for you or not.
After all, I checked 0.925V for me = no throttle. But 0.950V or above, it would throttle.

    @RickyC,
WoW! Gratz! I hope your Orthos Stress pass too!

Actually, I think that may be a contributing factor to the throttling issue. When I reverted to stock clocks to show the Acer techs what the problem is, it only throttled ONCE.
I think I'm going to stick to stock for a while and see.

DarkSilver, I'm not using your 1st post because that introduced instability on my system.
Your advice will not work for everyone all the time. Like I said, production variances mean that some CPUs will be stable at a given voltage, but not all.

This is a true case of "Your Mileage May Vary." There is NO one-size-fits-all solution to the problem.

LOL. My method seems not usable for a lot of people. T.T Can't help people. Shame.

Nope, still throttling on stock GPU clocks and CPU voltages. Took longer, though.
Let's see what happens if I throw in the undervolt again...

EDIT: Okie-doke, 5 minutes of ORTHOS undervolted to 1.075V...perfect. Temps held stable in the 53-55 range, no throttling. Now to throw back on the GPU overclock and see if that hinders it...
Huh. 5 minutes of the GromacsCore without throttling, but doesn't last 2 minutes on the regular ORTHOS test.
GPU overclock's going back on (it really does help my Badaboom encoding times!)

Now, you use Original GPU clocks and 1.075V CPU?

    @xelcius89,
Does this solution help you to fix the THROTTLING stuffs?

Updated the post - still throttling.
But at this point, I've invested WAY too much time into this. I've stopped caring. I'll deal with the throttling as I run into it.

For those who have Acer ePower Management (like all of us i suppose) does setting it to RMClock Power Management make any sort of difference for you? (just happened to stumble across it just now)

It won't affect the performance. This thing I can confirm.
    Undervolt not = Underclock

Anyway, it seems my solution work on you. Maybe this is due to your laptop is 100% same as mine. Thanks.

    How strong is the noise?
I doubt last time you use 50% of total speed.
Now, you use 100%? So, the fan run faster and produced a little noise?
I can heard my fan noise if I put my ears very very near to the laptop.
Extra info for you, this laptop have only 1 fan, that is Processor cooling fan.

ok guys, it seems i have solved MY throttling problem for now...
    this is what i did:
i (finally) went to the store and bought some compressed air.
then i cleaned the laptop with it... (an interesting thing that came out of the vent was a dustball that was roughly 1cm in diameter, also lots of dust too.) i also opened it up and sprayed the fan too (which was dusty)

currently it's been running ORTHOS for 10 minutes and is pretty stable at 37C (with +5C adjustment)
will edit this post with updates as tests go on..

as a sidenote: do not use compressed air in a closed environment/breath in too much.. (i was too happy to clean my lappy and now im having a bad cough)
another word of precaution: strong gusts of compressed air may break things (like the fan), although it is highly unlikely, but still, it should be used with consideration.

Edit: it throttled when it went to the lock screen/screensaver, lol been running ORTHOS and RTHDRIBL for 20 minutes, and i just opened the window and turned off the air conditioner, so it should be getting a bit hotter soon... currently it's at 40~42C nvm... it just throttled... =^= 23minutes... a big improvement from the original 2 min throttle time lol
(anyway, my point is => clean lappy=cooler computer=less throttle.)

Edit: I raised the bottom of the lappy by using the battery (taking it out and putting it at the back of the lappy) and seemingly it's running ORTHOS by itself just fine 35min no throttle yet (temp avg around 39~40C but that doesn't mean much considering the GPU also causes heat...) gonna leave it on for one hour to see stability.... another thought: maybe coupling this with undervolt will help?

Edit: ran ORTHOS alone for 1hr and 31min w/o throttle (temp avg around 39~40C still)

Edit: did a day of gaming today without throttling ^^ yay did some BF2142, Company of Heroes, AA3 (although it didn't run with satisfactory framerate, which was expected), and CPU temp stayed below 40C the whole time!

Conclusion: Seemingly the laptop now runs things fine (6920g). but a combination of high stress from ORTHOS and RTHDRIBL can still cause it to throttle. i suppose it is a longer lasting temporary solution, like using RightMark CPU Clock, considering that dust will build up again and the throttling still occurs if temp is too high (although running normal programs doesn't seem to make it go too high). it's much less of a headache than having to do the RMClock trick and the CPU also runs cooler.

btw... Thanks DarkSilver & Teh Suigui & all of you guys for you help ^^

    LOL! You are welcome.
However, your method didn't fix up the throttling. It just lowered the temperature. Somehow, lowering the temperature, increase the time for make it to start throttles.

Now, I formatted my AS 6920G in order to install Vista SP2 mannerly and because of my stupid tweak kaboomed my system.
I haven't try this THROTTLING TWEAK works for Vista SP2 and without ePower Management. Hope it is alright.

    EDIT: NEW TRICKS
I installed Vista SP2, uninstalled ePower Management, disabled superfetch.
Superfetch is a damn freaking resources hog. If you want your pc uses less RAM and less CPU usage. Disabling it is the BEST!
In addition, I found my CPU max temperature lowered by 2-4C after uninstalling ePower Management and disabled superfetch.

To disable superfetch, click start, type in services.msc and press enter.
A windows will pop-up. Find SuperFetch there and have it disabled. Restart your computer and you're done.

I seared for it too and decided i'd rather keep it. When you use the same programs a lot if will kinda remember and use your RAM to save the files so next time you start the program it will load up faster. I don't think it will help much with the throttle just because it doesnt use much of the CPU.

And my throttle isnt actually fixed i managed to get it to happen again. But im going to forget about it and just deal with it when it happens too. Don't think it will happen after summer anyway.

SuperFetch is far from processor intensive - it simply preloads commonly used applications into RAM to reduce load times, so you can use them more quickly.
And besides, it does release the RAM when a program actually uses it - why have 1.5GB of RAM sitting around doing nothing when you could have your favourite programs sitting there, ready to be loaded?
    Also, from an external source:
I honestly don't see how disabling SuperFetch would help with the throttling issue one bit.

Yup! I know it is more to RAM consuming but the CPU really run cooler with it turned off.(I dont know urs but mine seems to b)
But the performance I not actually tested it. Basically my RAM usage is 3X% and now become 2X% with SuperFetch turned off.
Currently, I don't care so much of the SuperFetch. If have free time, I'll do some research about the speedboost with superfetch. Then, maybe I would enable it again.

What model of Laptop are you using?
    And what is your Processor?
Some processors do not have that function.
But new processor should have that unless you're using old old generation processor.
Urm. Just Check the DFFS(this is matter). The IDA can be unchecked or checked(it doesnt really matter).

Currently, I needed to unchecked the IDA everytime my laptop restart/bootup(It will turn on IDA itself but the box shown disabled, so, just manually disable it again and done). IDA gives unstable Processor speed due to my processor doesn't support IDA and IDA = Overclock(if ur processor doesnt support this feature it may raise ur processor speed to overclock status about 1sec and then it will go back to normal processor speed randomly)

P-Series should be better than T-series right, Tehsuigi?
Since P-series uses higher technology and lower power usage.
It might have lower temperature compared to T-series.
About the IDA I really don't know on the P-Series. But it doesn't matter, the most important part was the registry tweak. Check the latest update on the 1st post(have slightly changes, warning).

P-Series uses less power than the T-Series, and thus generates less heat. There's otherwise no difference.

Nvidia GF 9500M GS, clocked at 555/440/1200.
A good news for you, lower the CPU voltage can lower the GPU temperature too.
I got my GPU running max at about 70C with about 20% of overclock(as mentioned above). Before lowering the CPU voltage, I have 73C-75C as max temperature.

Just turn on some monitoring tools to check the core speed.
ANyway, orthos have the core speed shown too.
Real Temp 3.0 should help you to monitor the core speeds and temperature.

Check the core speed as told. If it deducted means your laptop would be slowdown HEAVILY(so call throttle). The desktop and stuffs are still OK. When you open some GPU and CPU intensive game, you would feel like you are watching comic.

News: I found something interesting, http://www.bitsum.com/prolasso.php
But I don't have time to try it out yet.

Have you tried the solution on this TOPIC?
Undervolt should help you a lot a lot!
In addition, RMclock(used to undervolt) have a semi-fix method.
Which when your CPU throttles, check and unchecked throttle box in rmclock and apply then OK. Your CPU would back to normal again. You're advise to do it without closing the games/applications you're running. You may close the games and use this use the "check and unchecked" method, the CPU would back to normal, but when you want play the same games/application again. It would throttle after sometime. If you do not close the games/application you're running or playing, and just ALT TAB to "check and unchecked". Then, you can have your CPU never throttle again and remain at full speed(normal state).
Once you exit the games/application, the CPU would remain full speed(normal state) but if play the games/application again. You would need to do the "check n unchecked" after the throttle start to kick in.

In short, just "check and unchecked" RMclock when you're throttling and don't exit the current games/application you're using.

The Processor function(when to throttle, what temp to throttle and so on) already been locked by Acer BIOS. It can't be change at all.
RMclock only capable to do this semi-fix because there is a leak of the BIOS maybe. Even you completely disabled/lock the throttle for the CPU in the RMclock setting. It would still throttle ^^! Cheer~ This is due to the Acer BIOS.
It locks certain stuffs, we can't modify them. Disabling throttle won't spoil the laptop unless your CPU always overheat. If you
have a normal or non-faulty CPU, it won't overheat. So, throttle is not needed. However, we can't disable it due to Acer BIOS^^!
But if you want to try, go ahead. I think it is pointless. Anyway, hope you sucess. LOL! Remember to restart after and before try. To make sure everything fine.

It doesn't really matter about the BIOS.
Even the latest v1.14 BIOS does not able to FIX this Throttling =.=!
Undervolt always help rather than destroy. Overvolt/clock is risky.

As long as you have the same specification as I do, my tweak should help you to fix this problem.
Extra info for you and the other, 25FPS is actually enough to present a very damn smooth game play/video. Because the great movies like transformer 1 n 2, terminator, and many more used 25FPS only and we can see the detail and movement smoothly rite? Same goes to game. 60FPS is bull(for me) we don't need fully 60FPS to run a game smoothly, our eyes can't see the different between 25FPS and 60FPS clearly, unless we open our eyes widely and observe like crazy on the screen. Only 120FPS is great! We can have 3D stereostropic view with it!

Indeed - movies do run at 24 fps (25 in PAL countries), but that's a constant framerate. Game framerates do fluctuate, and it's when they do that we notice.

Yep! But is is insignificant. Unless it the FTP drop below 25, we can see noticable lagging. LOL!

well only in raids i get 25fps, because then my computer has to work with alot of info because you're with 25 other computers in one instance. Outside instances (or big cities) i get alot more.

WOW !!! Just want to say thank you very much!

    This actually works!

BTW. I have a 8930g with a x9100 and had severe throttle issues. Games like prototype run great now!

Perhaps you should change the title to: Acer aspire throttle fix
as it also works on the 8930g.
