I was watching a movie with my headset. After a while I unplugged them to hear from the speakers(It is louder). After that i changed the settings in the eaudio section from Built in speakers to 5.1 Output and the sound just stopped. Now i have no sound at all.My music wont start, the movies have no sound, youtube doesnt have any sound. When i try to test the sound i get an error "Failed to play test tone.".I tried rebooting i even got the battery out, shut it down for a while but still it just doesnt work. Im completely freaked out becouse i have never had any serious problems with my acer(except the throttling but it is fixed now).

    Im using a 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate

The player with witch i was playing the movie is Media Player Classic from the k-lite codec pack. My K-lite codec pack is version 5.9

    PLEASE HELP

First time I've heard of this happening.
Have you tried to switch it back to Stereo with any luck? How about using Windows' Sound properties instead of eAudio?

Failing all that, try uninstalling eAudio (just to see if it's the problem). If that doesn't work, go grab the latest Realtek audio drivers from their website and see if they fix the problem.

I find that 3D Guru usually has the latest Realtek audio drivers, plus they have a much better download speed than the actual Realtek.tw site. Realtek's site has some pretty MAJOR bandwidth issues, even with the 3 different mirrors.

2.51 is the newest one, though I never had any issues with speed on the realtek website (used realtek.com not tw though).

I tried different settings from the Windows's Sound properties but still it doesn't work. Now eAudio just stays at 5.1 it doesnt want to switch to the other settings. I will reinstall eAudio and try again. If that doesn't help i will install the new realtek drivers

P.S Reinstalling eAudio didnt help. I uninstalled the Realtek Driver. Then at startup windows 7 automaticly downloaded a driver (You know how it is). Then i opened a song and it WORKED!!!! I have sound. I will install Realtek now and tell you what happened. Before I open a song and it doesnt even start it stays at 00:00 paused.

P.S 2 The new Realtek Drivers seem to be working perfect. I have sweet sound again! Thank you guys especially XGX2007 for the link in guru 3d. It is alot faster from there then from realtek's site.

    Summary : PROBLEM SOLVED!

Sounds like it was the Realtek driver going wonky.
Windows installs its own generic audio driver when it reboots after uninstalling the Realtek one.
Good to hear that we fixed the problem!
