    Hi..
    Just to get some idea,advice
Own this 6920g almost 4 years..
Already make the biggest hardware upgrade..
    CPU : T8300 to T9500
    GPU : GS9500 to GT240M
(Already post in others thread about my upgrade)
Suddenly, after a month the laptop keep starting..
Expected the heat of CPU and gpu,so replacing with new thermal paste with copper shim but still restarting...
Because the laptop keep restarting make hard disk cannot boot and BSOD appeared.
Need to chkdsk on other laptop..

Can boot but restarting again and again...
The hard disk produce some overheat..
Try to boot with xp live CD...cannot detect HDD and laptop running longer, not restarting..

So, I excpeted the problem maybe come from HDD.
    Any suggestion..?
Hope somebody can give some idea.
    Thanks..

    when booting to bios,detectable..
boot until win vista appear for 2,3 minute..
    then restarting again..
try boot with win xp live cd,hdd no detectable..
before this, using win xp live cd,i can recover my data fm c: before restoring to factory.
i expected maybe my hdd need to be replaced with new.

It's not the HDD looking at SMART attributes although I wouldn't put much trust in this drive in months to come.
All attributes look good but it's been working for over 18K hours

It may be a motherboard or HDD connector problem- the former would be expensive.

I meant that a motherboard issue would be expensive as it would require a new mobo.

Do you still have the old parts (CPU and GPU)?

Could you test if it happens with those old parts installed too?

    Just to be sure.

today try to replace with original cpu and gpu.
during removing the heatsink for cpu,gpu and mobo chipset..found that the heatsink didn't touch with mobo chipset.
so,replace the heatsink properly w/out changing the cpu, gpu.
    try booting with ubuntu.
    before,booting fail.
    now,booting successful until ubuntu desktop.
but,the ubuntu only running about 2,3 min.

so,myb because of the heat of the mobo chipset that cause this problem..??
afraid the chipset will broken because of this problem..

    any idea,advice or solution..??

So it reboots with old (original) parts and heat-sink mounted properly, is that right?

    hi..
    just back fm busy day...
after trying troubleshoot by myself but failed,i decided to sent my laptop for repair..
not acer service center but just local repair shop.
same like me,they still cannot solved the problem.
so,decided to sent it to other service center.
    hopefully it success.
    will post the result..
