    Hey everyone,
I read on this forum a lot about heating and throttling issues with the 6920g, but before i can confirm that that's the problem, i need a little help here because im thinking i may have some heat dissipation issues with the GPU...

under normal operating conditions (having firefox, CPUID HWMonitor, Windows live messenger, and WMP open) the CPU is running at 17~30°C but the GPU runs at around 63~69°C

    this isn't normal is it?

with a fan underneath blowing on the bottom of the lappy, cpu runs at 8~23°C
    and gpu runs at 53~58°C

    Thanks in advance

My dear, this is a very common error or problem for Acer Aspire 6920G.
To fix this problem, it is not easy.

    Main cause:
The CPU's intelligence think that the processor is overheated(actually it do not) and it begins to throttle it(throttle mean slow down ur processor to reduce heat-up).
Even you have a cooler to blow your laptop, it would throttle as well.

    Solution 1(easiest but dangerous):

Download BIOS 1.10 for your Acer Aspire 6920G from http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/ftp/ftp.html
It is a rar file. Extract all the files to a folder. I guess the guide(how to patch your bios) is included in the rar file.

*Patching of BIOS is very dangerous.
*Back-up your stuffs before doing it.

Some people sucessfully fix the problem using this solution. However, some did not.

    Solution 2(basically won't work):

You have your Acer ePower Management with your right?
When your laptop is throttling due to false sense of overheat during gaming,
Alt-Tab to your desktop, click Acer ePower Management.
Reduce the your CPU speed(basically to lowest) and click Apply.
After that, increase your CPU speed(to maximum) and click Apply. Close the Acer ePower Management.
Your processor will not be throttle(throttle mean slowdown to reduce heat up) again. You can enjoy the game.
However, if you quit your games and turn on your game again, you need to do the same thing all over again. If not, it may slowdown again.

    Solution 3(best solution):

You need to download RightMark Clock (RMClock).
It is very hard to explain it all over again.
I will provide the useful link for you to read yourself.
So far, this is the BEST solution and workable for almost everyone.

Official download link and guide for RMClock, http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml#rmclock

Guide on "how to use RMClock to solve this annoying slowdown processor problem",

    Please do read all.

I am an user of Acer Aspire 6920G as well. I have v1.10 BIOS patched to my laptop. However, it can't solve this problem.
Tehsuigi(in this forum) sucessfully used v1.10 BIOS to fix this problem.
I use RMclock and it is very nice.
It wasn't just solve my problems and it lowers my laptop's processor temperature. All Hail RMCLOCK!

My CPU runs at about 20-30 C and GPU constantly at 51 C. What ARE the normal temperatures for the 6920G?

    Those temperature were really awesome.
I can't manage to have those temperature.
Minimal temperature for my CPU is 28C in an air-conditional room.
If a normal open air room, it usually raised to 35-40C.
GPU basically stay 55-57C in an air-conditional room and get 60C in a open air room.
When gaming, CPU raise to 50-55C and GPU raise to 70-75C.

HOWEVER, AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, ACER ASPIRE 6920G THROTTLE IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TEMPERATURE.
IT IS JUST MISREADING OF THE CPU ITSELF.

*the cpu always act clever and think itself overheated, so it throttles. Even u got 0C it will throttle as well.

I have the 6930 and my GPU temperature is 59 when I'm running MSN and Internet Explorer. When I'm gaming CoD 4 my temperature is 65-71C - As long I don't begin to lag, I'm happy about the temperature...

    :)

If not mistaken, GPU temperature below 85C is considered safe.
However, there is a lot of people forcing the GPU to run at 90C-100C due to overclock.
The performance did increase but I am not sure about the lifespan of the GPU.

Also, note that most software will read the CPU temperature about 15 degrees Celsius BELOW what it actually is.
My CPU right now is idling at around 30 degrees, and gets into the 50s under load.

GPU temperatures look fine across the board - start worrying when it hits 85 degrees.

do you have got something similar for windows vista x64 like RM CLock....Because the current RM CLOCK 2.25 deosn't work for 64-bit edition.....Urgent reply.any other sotware compatible with 64-bit edition of vista to undervolt the cpu....Because as we all know that its the cpu that throttles and not gpu...With acer aspire thats the only problem because the cpu thinks its hot and underclocks where as its just doing fine.......Clever cpu now days from intel.............

You need to scroll down a bit, but the signed driver is there. Funny thing is, it was never released by Rightmark themselves - apparently RMClock is part of EVGA's Precision software!
