dude.. i have this shutdown problem. it started since i installing windows 7 into my laptop. my computer turns of itself after 10-30 seconds after an OS boot. except on safe mode option. the computer works fine on safe mode. at first, i thought that this due to software problems. then i think i should wipe out my OS and install new OS.but unfortunately, my laptop turns of itself while installing the OS!. this sound weird isnt it?

ive tried to use multiple OS to be installed. win7, vista, and even unbuntu OS also. but the turn off problem still occurs..

ive read from other post about the thermal issues, doing some patches at BIOS download from acer websites. now, im running on v1.14 for my BIOS. still. the turn off issues still occurs.

so, ive tried to look for the hardware malfunctions since trying to look at software problems cant find a clue.

after doin some reasearch and testing, ive notice that by disabling my duo processor in device manager, the computer works fine. by using single core processor now makes my laptop works fine. but surely, im running on low state now.

    what cause of this problem?

    should i change my processor???

if i should, what do u recommend me?

any reply ive would say thanks. n sorry for my bad english. tq

    Go to your BIOS settings.
    Change ACHI to IDE.

Your GPU Driver is Ultra Ancient. Get the new 1 please.
Check my Signature below for better Driver for your Nvidia Geforce 9500M GS.

That turning off is the extreme version of the 6920G's throttling problem - the system thinks its CPU is so hot (and may be legitimately thinking so) that the system automatically shuts down to prevent permanent damage.
Have you cleaned out your fan intake and exhaust grille? Dust can seriously hamper the 6920G's cooling capacity.
    Otherwise, time to contact Acer.

I had the same problem but not as extreme as this, mine happened when gaming after 15-30 mins.......
Ive said this many times......and still dont understand why, when I installed a different OS I had high temps, even reverting back to my old OS didnt sort this problem out,I never had any thermal shutdown before this, other people have also experienced this, I had to clean out my fan intake and exhaust grilles as TehSuigi suggested, that did stop the shutdown but my temps were still higher than before, I ended up undervolting and running a cryo lx cooler when gaming, no more shutdown now and much better temps, this may or may not be your problem. Also did this problem start straight away or after you installed some drivers, ie your GPU driver ect..

    darksilver and techsiugi.

i havent have any problems with my other components, only the CPU problem. ive tried to folow your instructions about the trotle issues. but still, i cant find the solution. ive clean the vents, the everything i can open of the bottom of my laptop.

im runing now on single core processor, which i think the cause of the problem. havent encounter with any shutdown problems now. ive disable the second option of intel core 2 duo at safe mode option. and now, my windows7 and xp works fine. just wondering, what will cause if i disabling the processor?

but, i realize on the RM-clock utility that u ask to use, the CPU load has 100%?

but on the task manager, the readings is normal. which 1 is true?

ive install speedfan and monitor the temp. it seems to be normal and ongoing. >.<

but for sure, by disable the proccessor, everything works fine.

heres the problem, if i click the device manager and go to proccessor and enable the second option, bam!, the laptop turnsoff itself and bootup again.

    any sugestion?

Call Acer. It sounds like you've got a defective CPU - why else would enabling the second core cause a shutdown.
This is something that should be covered under warranty.

Well, it means you're running a single-core CPU effectively.
The system's still functional, but you won't be able to multitask as well.
