Hi,
I've been having this problem for like 3 days now. It started out of sudden.
The laptop randomly freezes and is unable to run after (need to turn it off using the power button).
- I scanned it for spyware and viruses
- Checked the drive using the windows tool
- I did not install any new software lately
- Installed the newest Intel Matrix Storage Manager (since I found it may be causing freezing problem)
- I noticed increased power consumption while running on battery (from 15mWh to over 22mWh)
I'm afraid this really may be hardware related issue, but I cannot afford to have it serviced at this time.
Any suggestions of what might be the problem?
Thanks a lot!

When i was having a freezing issue with my D520, turned out the HD had many bad sectors. Maybe run a HDtune Error scan and see if you have any bad blocks.

no bad blocks, no RAM errors either...

Hum. Next guess, Does the laptop run hot? What is the temp when it freezes? You can check by using http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php HWM.

I had this laptop as well, I tried using Vista64, Win764 bit, sometimes it freezes with the game sound repeating it self, if it's the same problem, i am guessing it could be the gpu. I tried replacing ram, hdd and even processor. Either it's the mobo or gpu which I can't replace. Did ur 6920g freeze when surfing web ? Or just freezes during gaming ? Btw my temps all r below 55 which I am very sure no overheating issues are related. So good luck trouble shooting as luckily my unit has warranty and I sent it back.

sorry on reviving an old thread.. but my Acer 6920g has been have occasional freezing as well.. mostly during games.. but sometimes just during normal use (e.g surfing web, watching movies... opening folders... lol)
After a while it just unfreezes and its normal again.. which is weird
Im using win7 64x... never had any kind of trouble like this when using vista tho -
Stab in the dark but that could be bad throttling if it is slowing to a halt and then catching up? The same also happens at high temps though. Is your fan at full pelt?
Otherwise im gonna have to say what the previous posts said that either your HDD is not feeding data fast enough due to a problem or your GPU is locking up.
First things first though check your temps at idle and full load.
Doubt it is Windows 7 64bit im running it and it runs twice as smooth as Vista did for me. -
my temps at full load and idle are around 30 to 60c for cpu
gpu at 66c at full load
its werid because it never happened when im using vista...
im wondering if it was any drivers that crashes...*e.g nvidia driver crashes alot at times... or used to crash alot
i saw a thread about iastor errors?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/252064-6920g-iastor-errors-freezes.html
and it seems more like my problem, i followed a fix in the post but it still has the freezing then resuming problem... weirdness...
