My screen suddenly began showing a long uneven black line angled down the screen, followed by ever-changing colorful plaid designs across the screen. I'm guessing this means I have a bad video card. Is this something I can tackle myself since my warranty recently expired?![]()

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well, you sure is the vga not the screen?
If thats the vga, dont worry. Over ebay there are plenty of 9600m GT ddr3 or Ati 4650, be sure that those are Slot MXM-II.
Replacing the vga is really easy, just remove the bottom cover, unscrew the old card, replace the card (dont forget the thermal compound!) and you're good to go. -
To check to see if it's the VGA, just hook it up to a TV or monitor and check if those lines are still there. If they are, you need a new GPU. If not, then your monitor is messed up.
