I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 6930G which came with Vista Home Premium 32bit installed, however i have an exisiting version of Vista Ultimate 64bit which i want to install on it.
The problem is i cannot find any drivers to support it, i have looked on the Acer Australia site but cannot see any (actually it only had drivers for the 6930, not sure if the G is any different, and even then there was only 1 Vista driver listed!), does anyone know where i can obtain the Vista Ultimate 64bit drivers from, would also like to keep some of the installed Acer applications it came with if possible?
Cheers.

If you still have your original Vista Home Premium installation on your system, look on your C: drive for the following directories:
C:\Acer - This directory appears to contain the installation files for some of the Acer programs.
C:\Boot - This folder contains pdf copies of the user guide and modem guide.
C:\DRV - This folder appears to contain both 32 and 64 bit drivers for the system.
These folders are on my Aspire 7720 and 5315 systems. I do not know if these folders contain all the drivers that make your system work or not but I would back them up before you try your installation of 64bit Vista so they will be available after a clean install.
Make sure you make your eRecovery back up disks before you attempt your new installation. Also, backup your Acer MBR before you start and do not delete your pqservice partition. When you install Vista, it will write a standard MBR on your disk and break your ALT+F10 recovery function. You would be able to fix that if you can restore your Acer MBR after the install. -
Thank you both heaps for all your help!
I found the 3 folders on my C:\ drive (were in different locations than listed) and have backed them all up as well as burning the 2 Recovery DVD's and it also asked me to burn 1 dvd called DRV1 which i'm tipping is the drivers anyway!
Found the drivers listed on the UK site (thanks for that!) and all though they just say 'Vista' drivers i downloaded a few and from the looks of the read me files they are for both 32 & 64bit.
What i plan to do now is to remove the primary HDD and put in a spare 160GB that i have and then load up my Vista Ultimate 64bit on that and see if it works ok and i can get everything to install properly, if i can then i will put back in the primary and then install it on that.
Thanks once again, hopefully all goes well and i won't need to ask for anymore help, but at least i know where to come if i do!
