Hi folks.
Had this laptop for just over a year. Ordered some new ram for it today. But whilst fiddling around with windows and 3dmark 06, I noticed it is only recognising 2gb of the 3gb ram that is installed. I have taken the back cover off and swapped the sticks around and then it only recognised 1gb.
Has anyone else had this issue? Have I somehow killed one of the memory slots?
Also, as I was looking for newer drivers on the Acer website I noticed a thing about product recalls for certain things. I entered my SNID number and got a response that "your unit does not require a service, thankyou for your attention and your time, please keep enjoying your packardbell pc"
Why does it say that? Are Acer owned by them?

I know I can put up to 4gb in this machine, but will it recognise 1 4gb stick? I can change my order to that from the 2x2gb sticks if it does
Also, my system says 776mb of ram is being used by my graphics card, is there any way of reducing this?
sorry to keep asking questions. Im used to working on desktops and can do most things system related with them, but the bios ect on this laptop is so locked down its ridiculous -
Check if the other slot is working at all- what if you use only one module in that slot- would it start at all?
As for the video memory- it's automatically assigned (up to 768MB) according to the situation, so it's not like you're always 768MB short. -
cheers for that.
all 3gb working again now. must have had dust or something in the slot.
