I am working on a laptop that wont power on. You get about 2 seconds of power and then the laptop shuts down. All I get now is the power light, battery light, hard drive light, and dvd rom light flashing about every 2 seconds. The only way to stop it is by removing the battery. I have tried a different ac adapter, without the battery, removed the hard drive, changed the ram, and even tried removing the wireless card. No effect. Im pretty sure its the main board, but acer wont help me as I can no longer see the serial number as it has rubbed off the tag. I just want to know if it's something that can be easily fixed or if the unit is pooched. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Probably the power regulation circuitry on the motherboard.

    Check for bulging caps.

Couldnt find any bulging caps. Even tried without the keyboard and cdrom. Still does the same thing.
