I have problem with my Acer Aspire 7520G. When I turn it on, after memory check and disk check I got messages:
Resource Conflict PCI Serial Bus Controler in slot 01
Bus:01 Device:04 Function:00
ERROR
Bus:01 Device:04 Function:01
ERROR
Bus:01 Device:04 Function:02

Bus:01 Device:04 Function:03

Bus:01 Device:04 Function:04

after this wont boot neither from HDD nor CD/DVD. Just blink currsor apears.
After a few of restarts, if I got luck, it will boot up "normally". I checked in Windows system that Bus 01 Device 04 is acctualy

SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller at Function 01,

I beg for your help.

This could be a hardware problem. Just to be safe, try resetting BIOS values to default. If I remember correctly, this is the procedure:
0. turn off the computer
1. disconnect it from its power supply
2. remove the battery.
3. press power button and keep it pressed
4. while the power button is pressed, connect the power supply unit
The BIOS data should now be set to their default values.
If it doesn't help, update your BIOS to the newest version. I think it's 1.33, but I'm not certain. You can get it from Acer's support site.
Just to be safe, does the error message show before OS starts or after? If it shows after OS has started, then it could be related to drivers. I know that the firewire/memory card controller is of low quality and that people were having trouble with it but I haven't heard anything about it failing. Try with newest drivers from Acer's site for memory card reader. In the end try to reinstall OS.
If you still can't solve your problem, post here. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.h -
Yes, its definitely a hardware problem.
I can enter into BIOS and I load default values, so disconnecting battery will not help. (I think).
Bios version is already 1.33. And error message shows before any OS start. It shows after RAM check and HDD check. Then shows:
SYSTEM BIOS VER 1.33
STRONG ROM VERSION 03.30
ERROR
Resource Conflict PCI Serial BUS Controler in slot 01... etc...
When I have luck to boot OS (Windows 7 in my case) it shows that driver can not be loaded. So something is dead on my mainboard. But this is only my thinking. Please help.

Well did you try all the steps I pointed out above(some people say that you need to keep the power button pressed for 20 seconds)?
If these don't help, then it's probably a hardware problem. Unless you know someone who deals with computer electronics, you'll probably find it cheaper to just replace the laptop, because I think that the official "authorised Service Centres" are just going to tell you that you need to replace your motherboard.
Here's the list of Acer's service centers http://www.acer-ee.com/acer/service...ryISOCtxParam=EE&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=3668499198, if you want to send it to be repaired. There are a few in Sarajevo and one in Vitez.
Did you do anything to the laptop before the problem appeared? Like leaving it near a powerful heat source or in a car in the summern or something like that? It looks to me like the soldering on contacts for the Ricoh's chip isn't working properly, but I too am just guessing.
If everything else fails and repair of the laptop proves to be economically unjustifiable, you could try to bake the motherboard (there are guides on the Internet). It might fix the bad soldering, if that's the problem.
I'm out of ideas. -
Well, Ill try all steps, but it is hard to open the case of laptop, and the battery is soldered.
I dont remember that laptop exposed to extra heat.
Dont know about baking motherboard but I am thinking about to remove Ricoh chip. Will MB work without it? I dont want to use Card readers and other stuff which Ricoh chip controlled.
Thanx a lot -
The battery on 7520 in not soldered! There are two switches on the bottom of the laptop. One small and is used to lock and unlock the battery and has a small padlock engraved next to it and other is long and has a battery engraved. It is used to eject the battery once it's unlocked. Unlock the battery and push the long switch to the left (right if your laptop is upside-down) it will eject.
It's actually pretty easy to open 7520. I you need instructions, I can help you.
I don't know if the laptop will work without the chip. basically if you are ready to scrap the laptop, then you could try to remove the chip. Again, it could be difficult because of the way the chip is attached to the motherboard. Take a look at the link below.
As for the baking option, it simulates the factory soldering. Take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflow_soldering -
Oh yes. That battery
. I thought battery on MB. My bad.
Thanx for your answers. -
While laptop is on
... I remembered to ask... Is there any way to disable CardReader and other stuff in BIOS. BIOS does not offer that, so, I tought that I do it from Windows?
-
You could look for it in device manager and right click on it and choose disable, but I don't think that it will be disabled enough for problems to go away.
