I have joined this forum because I am very nervous about a problem on My acer Aspire 7530 laptop. Notebook boots normally when cold (fresh start from power off) but Windows OS 7 does not boot after a restart. It blocks in the begining (Microsoft Windows starting screen) and there is a flashing of HD Led and sometmes Internet Led too (random way). Then I press the power button for 8 secs (power off) restart and everythings boots perfectly. This used to take place on Win Vista and recentely I have installed clean install of Win 7. The problem went away but when i started to install some progs and driver I have it back :-((((((((

During the last session I have installed some progs and some drivers as in this page:

Acer Aspire 7530 7530G Windows 7 Drivers | Laptop Software

I have a doubt that the fault is not the progs (Eg imgburn, PhotoShop 12, Avira Antiir, etc) but the drivers in paricular Acer Aspire 7530 7530G Chipset Driver, and waht worse I do not know how to uninstall this set of drvers!

    Please help!

    Follow up:

I have searched the System Windows Log for errors during booting and found this message:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: sptd

Do you have Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120 installed?

Yes, I tried to install Alcohol 120% and the installation somehow failed half way. I do not need Alcohol (I use imgburn instead). Can I just delete sptd.sys from system32 and all its entry from regedit ?

I also found that this sptd.sys driver is the cause that my tower PC with WinXp does not boot in safemode. I will uninstall Alcohol120% and never install it again. (I used to like it but imgbrn rocks)

So the thing now is how to remove sptd.sys

well, I removed the sptd.sys (after lot of hassle) and nothing improved :-( So I have re-installed windows 7 and rstart back to normal. I have installed the 4 Acer Aspire drivers as the very start of installations and lalala! - I am back with the booting problem after a restart. I have pinned the problem (needs a bit more verification) that the Nvidia Graphics Driver are causing this. I had installed the latest (VGA_NVIDIA_8.15.11.8652_W7x86_A). I removed the driver and currently 'coping' with Adapter type: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter (but on clicking prperties, the driver is Nvidia 8.15? ? ?) Well it is a different driver from the installed becasue I can reckognise that the settings/layout is diferent.

After describing the whole story, I ask 2 questions:

    1) Is this issue a known issue or only mine ?!?!?
    2) Is there a solution (eg instal the lates Nvida driver and tweak some settings/ registries?)

    Confirmation:

When the nvidia display driver is not installed (and hence I work with standard VGA Display Adapter) the notebook reboots without any problem. Upon installing the Nvidia 9100 drivers (latest version upto this date) the problem occurs. I have flashed the bios but without any improvemnet.

How can I approach this problem for a solution?

The display is oK (a bit 'slugish' perhaps) with he Standard driver :-( and so far I do not know if I will see any problems in gaming or graphic progs like photoshop.

    Please help!

Try drivers directly from nvidia if the Acer ones are causing issues.
