I was playing around with Ubuntu Linux and I somehow accidently erased my backup partition. I never made a backup disc (silly me) and my only option now is to borrow my brothers copy of Vista, yeah I know that's wrong but it's better than trying to get my valid copy of 98 to work. Anyway I contacted Acer (UK) and they want £50 off me to send it back for them to put the recovery partition back on. I asked them to send me a back up disc that I was quite willing to pay for and they told me no way. So my question is this, can any kind soul tell me any way to get a back up disc/s or be willing to burn me the appropriate disc/s? I'm willing to pay for them.

    ;)

As far as I know, recovery disks do not re-create hidden partitions, so once you has erased it, it´s gone.

My humble advice, install Vista again and try the serial code under your laptop, guess it´s the easiest and painless solution.

    Good Luck and kind regards

P.S: I´m not an expert in this area (nor in other one :p), so I may be wrong, just trying to help from my tiny little knowledge ;)
P.S2: Charging $80 for something that should be factory included, IMHO it´s INSANE .

    Dear Listmembers,

I brought an Acer 7720-4749 from someone in canada. Very cheap 350 dollars. Everything is fine except for the fact that the laptop screen has lots of grains. I asked my friend and he suggested to go to best buy. He thought there was a problem wtih the chip set. When I connected external monitor, it's great. When I start the computer with windows vistas (from CDR) still the problem persists. I don't want to spend another 400 dollars to fix it. I searched online. Some claim it is a problem with Bios. The computer seem to have been purchased from elsewhere not from North America and more than one year old and I don't have a recepit. Has any one had such problem with GRAINS? The diagnostics says, RGB - white color is missing. It is more of red color, some sort of lines are visible. Computer works great, I can do anything and everything except this problem. Any advice would be appreciated. Could you please e-mail me at: [email protected]? Thanks
