    Acer Aspire 7720-6155 freezing problems

    This unit freezes at different stages, furthest it will go is to the password logon screen and when I click on my logon name it will not go to the desktop. I am trying to reinstall the OS from the DVD but it freezes at the

    Press any key to boot from CD or DVD

    Help?

    Have you tried checking your RAM modules by using different combinations? Like each singly if you have more than one.

    I am thinking this may be the HDD but will try that tomorrow, get back to you, thanks.

    When I try switching and using only one ram module, the laptop powers on but no video so I need to have the two modules in there at all times. I will try a memtest next.

    I had this sort of issue with a old HP laptop. I think the HDD might be on its way out.
