Not that bad. The 8400M GS is a bit crappy for gaming, but it can be upgraded very easily. CPU and HDD are fine. BD is good. I think its good, but the 7720G will soon be discontinued by Acer, due to the release of the 7730G.

thanks so much for the quick response...would you recommend that I want for the 7730G or go with this one because the price is good?...also you said that the 8400M GS is crappy for gaming...would that affect the playing of movie files that are of high quality that I would download or no?

No not really, it will play movies just fine. You could look at one of the notebooks which come with the Geforce 9M series, as they ease the CPU during HD Playback.

Instead of the 7730G, you could look out for the 5930G, but it is a 15.4"er.

another question for those who might be able to help me...it says that this is running 3gb ram and I was reading that in order for the 64-bit Vista to run to its fullest capability it needs to be running 4gb ram...is this correct? also it says this comp has 2gbx1gb in the ram slots and there are no other slots available so can it be upgraded by replacing the 1gb with a 2gb or no? sorry not too familiar with this...just trying to learn

64-Bit Vista will run even with 1GB RAM.

To recognise 4GB RAM and more, you need a 64-Bit OS (or Vista 64).

Yes, you can replace the 1GB module for a 2GB module, as there are only two RAM slots available.

No, Vista 64-Bit; 64-Bit Vista; Vista x64 and Vista 64 are the same thing, it is just kind of a way of posting.

I only know of Gateways coming with Vista 64-Bit stock.

Your spec list mentions the HDD as 320GB ' Capacity'.

That could perhaps be different from the actuality.

The 320GB quoted is comprised of 2 x 160GB separate drives. Make sure that is what you're actually getting, as mine (from Amazon) came with only the one 160GB drive installed and a space for the second drive.
