Hi guys. i have recently purchased a 8600m GT for my acer 7720g laptop, however when i plug it in i get a black screen with back light. I know the card works so need help in getting it working in my laptop. I have tried blind flashing the card to no avail (not sure if im doing it right or have the right bios).

i was wondering if i mod the motherboard bios would this help recognize the card, or is the only solution to mod the cards bios.

I have taken the bios from techpowerup and followed the guide to no avail.

    any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

i have read on other forums that there should be no video bios on the card and it reads it from the mother board is this correct? i have the unlocked bios running so should this fix the problem?

i have noticed there are components missing on the card so not sure if its worth my while getting the card repaired if i can., if it wont work anyway due to the bios issue

That's incorrect- all MXM card but Toshiba ones have VBIOS on board as far as I know.

In fact, Compal may be the common denominator here - Toshiba's BIOS-less cards are also made by Compal. (The Aspire 5720G is also a Compal machine, though, and it has normal on-card VBIOS.)
