    Hi guys, I wonder how many people still own this wonderful classic machine 5 years on... and those who do... what kind of spec are you running on it? What kind of games are you able to play on your 7720G?

    So without further ado, I'll go first.

    ---

    MY 7720G-6A3G25Bi IS RUNNING:

    • Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.5Ghz
    • Crucial (Micron) 2x2GB PC2-5300 667Mhz
    • 750GB 5200RPM HDD (500GB + 250GB)
    • Nvidia FX770 512MB GDDR3
    • Intel 4965AGN WiFi
    • Windows 8 Extreme 64bit
    • Razer Imperator 2012 mouse + SteelSeries QcK Diablo Mini surface
    • Cooler Master Notepal U3

    ---

    Think I've pretty much maxed it out, except maybe new screen + black keyboard + bluetooth module + SSD drive... oh and trying to fit it with Nvidia GT240M 1GB GDDR3. Not sure if the ones taken from other Acers would work, even though I've seen a few of them. Tag - VG.10P06.005

    Some of the recent games I'm able to play with my current configuration include... Diablo 3 (medium-high), Mirror's Edge (medium), Metro 2033 (low-medium), StarCraft 2 (medium-high), Crysis (medium), Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box (medium), Wolfenstein (medium-high).

    Low = 1024 x 768
    Medium = 1280 x 800
    High = 1440 x 900

    Can any of you beat that MOD?? :D

    Intel C2D T8300 @ 2.4GHz (upgrade from T7500 @ 2.2GHz))
    2x 2GB ELPIDA PC2-6400S-666 @ 333MHz CL5 (upgrade from 2x1GB)
    nVidia GF 8400M GS 256MB DDR2 (stock)
    60GB Kingston SSDNow V+200 (upgrade, got originally V200, but that developed a fault during firmware update and got replaced by Kingston with V+200. That V200 got up to 60 ˚C and heated up all of the laptop, so it was of no use in it anyway, V+200 runs at comfortable 35 ˚C)
    Western Digital 250GB 5400rpm SATA I HDD (stock)
    Intel 4965AGN WiFi @ up to 144Mbps (upgrade from 3945ABG)
    Pioneer DVD-RW, Bluetooth, CIR etc.
    Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (upgrade, got it when they were on offer for 30€ at MS site)

    Future upgrade might include better LCD that actually has viewing angles, an IPS panel if I can find and afford one, and that may require also video card upgrade. GF 9600m GT 1024MB DDR2 with Acer vBIOS are selling on eBay for 100$ right now with free shipping, but it is suggested that IPS panel may require an Quadro video card.

    I don't play games on the laptop, so I don't know if it can run any current games, probably not.
    I got this laptop in 2008 mainly for the wife to use for work, connecting via RDP to her work PC, so one big issue when getting it was that there had to be NumPad.

    I have an ACER 7720G with this component:
    CPU - Intel Core Duo T7300 2.0 Ghz
    RAM - 4 GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667 Mhz
    GPU - NVIDIA 9600M GT 512MB DDR3 with Display Driver 257.21 mod inf
    OS - WINDOWS 7 ICE EXTREME V1 by Greifi Grishnackh
    BIOS - ACER 1.45 STOCK VERSION
    My pc work very fine with this configuration but I tried to install WINDOWS 8 PRO and my GPU was not recognized with actual driver I use.
    I'm looking for a driver or any suggestions to solve that problem.

    Nice classic spec ;)

    It works fine for me on Windows 8 Extreme Edition RC2 64bit.

    These are the drivers I'm using:

    Thanks a lot geko95gek!!!
    I would like to know if I can use these with stock version of bios of I have to use Acer 1.45 Black Edition V4.0.
    Another question is:
    there is no modified inf for this version. Don't I need it to recognize my GPU?
    Thank for your reply.

    It should work fine for your card without the modified INF.

    Not sure about the BIOS thing though, I replaced my BIOS with NetRollers Black Edition before I installed the card.

    If you should need it, I posted the link to it in the modded BIOS thread. ;)
